But no, it was a Hard Rock project in <strong>New Orleas<\/strong>s that <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/person-killed-18-hospital-crane-collapses-hard-rock\/story?id=66232002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tragically crumpled<\/a>, killing two and injuring 30. So precarious was the situation in the Big Easy (feeling more than a bit uneasy) that search-and-rescue operations were <!--more-->halted during the nighttime hours, as a 110-ton crane was trucked in from <strong>Baton Rouge<\/strong> to stabilize the shaky building. &#8220;This is not something you take lightly,&#8221; said New Orleans Fire Chief <strong>Tim McConnell<\/strong>. As of yesterday, the two dead still remained on the building, it being too dangerous to remove them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After search and rescue, it will shift into a full-investigative mode and we will be relentless in those efforts moving forward,&#8221; said Mayor <strong>LaToya Cantrell<\/strong>, adding that the building had been &#8220;up to code.&#8221; In the meantime, the crane that gave way is tilting from one side of the building, complicating relief efforts. Among the lesser victims was a touring production of <em>Wicked<\/em>, cancelled when debris caused serious damage to the nearby\u00a0<strong>Saenger Theater<\/strong>. For its part, <strong>Hard Rock International<\/strong> said it had\u00a0&#8220;no involvement in the construction of the project,&#8221; which hardly seems the most courageous response under the circumstances. Meanwhile, city officials are bracing themselves (and the structure, presumably) against the possibility of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwltv.com\/article\/news\/local\/one-person-still-missing-after-hard-rock-hotel-collapse-building-still-unstable\/289-8a317bed-abf1-4274-a00e-44b91706f724\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a second collapse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4iWSyhuveYk\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>* Meanwhile, in <strong>Greece<\/strong>, Hard Rock is trying to fend off an Inspire-d charge from <strong>Mohegan Sun<\/strong>. The latter is proposing a two-tower, Inspire-branded megaresor<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pappaspost.com\/mohegan-company-greece-casino\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">t<\/a> for the <strong>Hellenikon<\/strong> former airport site. (The winning project will be tabbed next month.) Mohegan Sun is pitching a 7,000-job project that would eventually encompass 120 table games and 1,200 slots: small by American standards but big by European ones. Mohegan CEO <strong>Mario Kontomerkos<\/strong> says his company has been preparing the ground for this for two years. <strong>Paul Steelman<\/strong> has outdone himself with this design.
