Citing its own study<\/a>, the Culinary Union<\/strong> is accusing Station Casinos<\/strong> of running unsafe workplaces. Sample: “Nearly one-fifth (18%) of survey \"\"respondents who have not received training in biohazards said they clean biohazards.” The study targets Boulder Station<\/strong>, Green Valley Ranch<\/strong>, Palace Station<\/strong> and Palms Casino Resort<\/strong>, which happen to be\u2014coincidence, yes?\u2014casinos where union elections have been held. While we find a contention such as “Over half (53%) of respondents said they have experienced violence at work (physical, verbal, and\/or emotional)\u201480% said that their supervisor was the source of the violence” cause for concern, we wonder if this is a case of selective outrage.<\/p>\n

Where was the Culinary when superannuated Steve Wynn<\/strong> was behaving like a latter-day Don Juan<\/strong>? Where are the investigations of unsafe working conditions at other Las Vegas<\/strong>? Surely they are not all pristine while Station alone is less than clean. The Culinary’s concern for employee health, mental and otherwise, seems to be limited to Station. At least the Culinary is able to cite one peer-reviewed study to back up its own findings.\u00a0\u201cI was quite disturbed to discover the high number of hazards workers are exposed to every day. The survey results indicate that management must do a better job to control hazards and prevent injuries,\u201d expressed Sharee Lopez<\/strong>, a graduate student who co-authored the Culinary report. If that’s the case at Station, which is under a microscope, think what must be going on elsewhere in Sin City. Do tell.<\/p>\n

Were Vici Properties<\/strong>, sibling of Caesars Entertainment<\/strong>, to buy the Grand things would get very<\/i> interesting.
