This has generated the threat of a lawsuit from the <strong>Conservation Law Foundation<\/strong>. It&#8217;s not just Wellington that&#8217;s at issue but also <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-15390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Wynn-Everett-300x164.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Wynn-Everett-300x164.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Wynn-Everett-150x82.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Wynn-Everett.jpeg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>shuttle stops at the airport, other MBTA stations and anywhere else that a Wynn shuttle happens to lay over, usually 15 times a day.\u00a0\u201cThe casino is a brand-new neighbor, and it\u2019s already wearing out its welcome,\u201d said CLF Massachusetts Director\u00a0<strong>Alyssa Rayman-Read<\/strong>, who accuses Encore of violating both federal and Bay State clean-air laws. <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong>, for its part, rather meekly agreed to comply with state law vis-a-vis idling buses.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <em>Boston Globe<\/em>, as buses idle they spew fumes that are &#8220;a soot that includes harmful pollutants such as benzene, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides. When inhaled, the exhaust can cause lung damage and aggravate conditions such as asthma and bronchitis, especially among <!--more-->children. Exposure has also been linked to increased incidence of heart disease, cancer, and premature death.&#8221; The casino employs 16 shuttle buses, which are run by <strong>DPV Transportation<\/strong>. Said Wynn spokesman <strong>Michael Weaver<\/strong>,\u00a0\u201cEarlier today [Monday], we spoke to our provider about eliminating idling &#8230; We believe our commitment to a clean environment is clear.\u201d If Encore isn&#8217;t in compliance within two months, the CLF will sue for $100,000 a day in damages. Ironically, <strong>Boston University Medical School<\/strong> is one of the sites cited for air pollution.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Boston<\/strong> metro area already has an asthma rate well above the national average, so one can see why this would be a sore point with local environmentalists.
