So says state Sen. <strong>Dave Syverson<\/strong> (R), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northernpublicradio.org\/post\/syverson-chicago-casino-tax-proposal-could-have-shortchanged-illinois-capital-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a real crank<\/a>. As Syverson puts it,\u00a0\u201cThe problem with that is that means the state would be getting about <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25477\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Syverson.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Syverson.jpeg 190w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Syverson-107x150.jpeg 107w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 190px) 100vw, 190px\" \/>$150 million a year less in revenue from Chicago.\u00a0 That\u2019s about 15% of the entire capital plan.\u201d \u00a0Oh, Laura mercy, as <strong>Pogo<\/strong> would say. Somebody should ask Syverson what he plans to do when <em>no<\/em> casino is built and there&#8217;s exactly $0 going into the capital plan. Somebody must have asked Syverson if this was sour grapes, since he represents <strong>Rockford<\/strong>, soon to be home of a <strong>Hard Rock<\/strong>-branded casino. Seemingly high on happy dust, he replied,\u00a0\u201cChicago\u2019s casino is going to be the most successful and the biggest, and it\u2019s going to generate the most revenue. The idea of giving them a much better deal than Rockford gets, it just isn\u2019t fair, one, and then second, it\u2019s going to hurt the state\u2019s revenue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Encore Boston Harbor<\/strong>, despite a public show of contrition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/casinos\/2019\/11\/we-were-wrong-encore-boston-harbor-drops-50-table-game-minimums-paid-parking.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">continues to charge $7<\/a> for <!--more-->shuttle buses and water-taxi rides. As <strong>Dr. Phil<\/strong> would say, &#8220;<em>What the hell are you thinking<\/em>?&#8221; On a happier note, a new, three-tier loyalty program is scheduled for early next year. Can you earn <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-16833\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/wynn_night-full-300x162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/wynn_night-full-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/wynn_night-full-150x81.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/wynn_night-full.jpg 1001w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>points for paying water-taxi fees? The appointment of <strong>Brian Gullbrants<\/strong> as casino president appears to be part of a larger management shakeup, with <strong>Eric Kraus<\/strong> coming aboard as senior vice president of communications and public affairs, and <strong>Jenny Holaday<\/strong> the new executive VP of operations. As <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong> CEO <strong>Matt Maddox<\/strong> put it on a conference call, \u201cWe\u2019re learning each and every day to become more local, make sure we\u2019re giving the customers what they want.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>* In addition to eschewing resort fees, the <strong>Four Queens<\/strong> in encouraging <strong>Instagram<\/strong> moments on its casino floor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/travel\/story\/2019-11-21\/these-las-vegas-casino-tables-encourage-photos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a departure from industry <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1941\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/4queens-pic2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/4queens-pic2.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/4queens-pic2-150x101.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>tradition<\/a>. <strong>The Strat<\/strong> is on the bandwagon, too. As Strat exec <strong>Brian Stanton<\/strong> told the <em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>, \u201cWe want our guests to have fun playing table games. If part of that fun is taking a photo to capture that moment, we welcome it.\u201d Good man. <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong> doesn&#8217;t share Stanton&#8217;s sentiment, while <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> belies its name with a stick-in-the-mud attitude toward photography of table games. At least MGM created a &#8220;selfie-safe zone&#8221; at <strong>Park MGM<\/strong>. Guys, we&#8217;re talking about an era in which people aren&#8217;t really living unless they share the experience online. Get with it.<\/p>\n<p>* Speaking of MGM, it and its rivals for <strong>Osaka<\/strong> will find out who their joint-venture partners will be in June. Possibly putting the cart before the horse, Osaka officialdom <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ggrasia.com\/mgm-resorts-galaxy-ent-genting-only-osaka-rfc-applicants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">will select private-sector partners<\/a>, leaving the <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4291\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Japan-flag-300x211.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Japan-flag-300x211.gif 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Japan-flag-150x105.gif 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Japan-flag.gif 497w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>choice of casino operator up to the national government. This didn&#8217;t work so well when <strong>Macao<\/strong> yoked together <strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> and <strong>Galaxy Entertainment<\/strong> (another Osaka aspirant), whose public divorce led to the concession\/subconcession arrangement that exists to this day. One thing Osaka candidates know for sure is that infrastructurally challenged <strong>Yumeshima Island<\/strong> will be the casino site. Meanwhile, national policy creeps forward at a weary-snail&#8217;s pace, with acceptance of resort proposals set for January of 2021. Construction in Osaka, if selected, is not expected to happen until autumn of that year.
