Gaming revenues shot up 8%, a welcome bit of good news. One extra weekend day surely helped although we find it <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2851\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Grand-Victoria-IL-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Grand-Victoria-IL-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Grand-Victoria-IL-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Grand-Victoria-IL.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>hard to believe that entirely accounts for the variance. The overall gross was $116 million, with <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong> having a rare good month at <strong>Grand Victoria<\/strong>, flat at $13 million. <strong>Rivers Casino Des Plaines<\/strong> far outdistanced the state average, with $40 million, an 18% pole vault. The closest competition came from <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Joliet<\/strong>, down 2% but still grossing $14 million. <strong>Empress Joliet<\/strong> gained 7% to $10 million while <strong>Hollywood Aurora<\/strong> was up 4% to $10 million.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-state <strong>Jumer&#8217;s Casino Rock Island<\/strong> gained 8% to $5 million while <strong>Par-A-Dice<\/strong> was flat at <!--more-->$6 million. In the <strong>St. Louis<\/strong> area, <strong>Casino Queen<\/strong> jumped 20.5% to $8.5 million while <strong>Argosy Belle<\/strong> lost 7% to $3 million. <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Metropolis<\/strong> was up 5% to $6 million. We&#8217;ll have to see how these numbers hold up in a year, when cities like <strong>Waukegan<\/strong> start to open temporary casinos.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Maryland<\/strong> gaming revenues were flat again, with <strong>MGM National Harbor<\/strong>\u00a0dipping 6% to $54 million last month. Slots at the casino were up 4% but table-game win dove 18%. MGM also lost a bit of market share <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8904\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Maryland-Live-rendering-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Maryland-Live-rendering-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Maryland-Live-rendering-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Maryland-Live-rendering.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>to <strong>Maryland Live<\/strong>, which now has 37.5% to MGM&#8217;s 38%. Overall, casinos in Maryland grossed $141 million. Maryland Live raked in $53 million, up 9%, while <strong>Horseshoe Baltimore<\/strong> slipped 6% to $18.5 million. <strong>Ocean Downs<\/strong> climbed 4% to $5.5 million and <strong>Hollywood Perryville<\/strong>\u00a0was up 6% to $6 million. <strong>Rocky Gap Casino<\/strong> leapt 11% to $4.5 million. Over in <strong>West Virginia<\/strong>, there was an 8% decline, lead by a 9% slot falloff. <strong>Charles Town Races<\/strong> was down 9% overall, with slots dropping off 10% and table games down 7%, giving it a worse-than-average month.<\/p>\n<p>* Another day, another <strong>Palms<\/strong> lawsuit. DJ <strong>Kaskade<\/strong> (born <strong>Ryan Gary Raddon<\/strong>) is suing <strong>Station Casinos<\/strong> over the <strong>KAOS<\/strong> closure\u2014the club was hemorrhaging money. Kaskade wants Station to fulfill his contract by paying him <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktnv.com\/news\/tmz-kaskade-files-lawsuit-over-closure-of-kaos-at-palms-hotel-casino\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">for seven scratched dates<\/a> in November and December <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9178\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/palms-pic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/palms-pic.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/palms-pic-150x125.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>(including New Year&#8217;s Eve), saying the cancellations left him without a venue in which to perform. Station already paid him for three unfulfilled dates in October. Part of the reason for KAOS&#8217; failure surely has to do with Station going way overboard in its design. Imagine the cost of &#8220;multiple pools and levels, a rotating DJ booth, an additional stage, the city&#8217;s largest LEX wall, and a 6-story sculpture by British artist <strong>Damien Hirst<\/strong>.&#8221; The Palms has been underperforming since its hyper-expensive remodeling and shedding the costs associated with KAOS is one move toward ending this revenue-negative era.<\/p>\n<p>* <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-12-06\/music-rights-group-gets-justice-department-help-in-radio-fight?cmpid=BBD120619_OUS&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_term=191206&amp;utm_campaign=openamericas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">Price-fixing by radio stations<\/a>?
