Factor in an extra weekend day this year and that&#8217;s a pretty underwhelming result. In its last<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-25579 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Resort-Exterior-L-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Resort-Exterior-L-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Resort-Exterior-L-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Resort-Exterior-L-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Resort-Exterior-L-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>full month of service, riverboat\u00a0<em>Glory of Rome<\/em> brought in $17 million for <strong>Caesars Southern Indiana<\/strong>, down 9%. <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong>&#8216;s two racinos fared better, with <strong>Hoosier Park<\/strong> grossing $16 million, up 3%, and <strong>Indiana Downs<\/strong> up 6% to $20.5 million. <strong>Hollywood Lawrenceburg<\/strong> was up 1.5% to $14.5 million while <strong>Tropicana Evansville<\/strong> rose 6% to $12.5 million. <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong> and <strong>Full House Resorts<\/strong> didn&#8217;t fare so well. <strong>Belterra Resort<\/strong> ceded 5% to $8 million and <strong>Rising Star<\/strong> sank 14% to $3.5 million. <strong>French Lick Resort<\/strong> grossed $8 million for a 2% gain.<\/p>\n<p>In the Hoosier State&#8217;s northern tier, <strong>Horseshoe Hammond<\/strong> was dominant, up 8% to a hefty $32 million. Next best was <!--more--><strong>Ameristar East Chicago<\/strong>, down 2% to $18 million. Boyd&#8217;s <strong>Blue Chip<\/strong> chipped in $13 million, a 5% gain, while the two <strong>Majestic Star<\/strong> boats contributed $7 million (-1.5%) and $4 million (-10%) respectively. The bright spot for the state was $147 million in sports-betting handle.\u00a0&#8220;Bettors overwhelmingly prefer the convenience and safety of online <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-17142\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Draft-Kings-300x172.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Draft-Kings-300x172.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Draft-Kings-150x86.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Draft-Kings.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>sports books, and the addition of <strong>DraftKings<\/strong> and <strong>FanDuel<\/strong> in October was like adding rocket fuel to\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Indiana<\/span>&#8216;s\u00a0sports betting industry,&#8221; observed <strong>PlayIndiana.com<\/strong> analyst <strong>Dustin Gouker<\/strong>. Ameristar&#8217;s DraftKings-branded book had the plurality of wagers with $64 million. Following were FanDuel&#8217;s Blue Chip sports book, with $24 million, and the $8.5 million wagered at French Lick&#8217;s <strong>BetRivers<\/strong>-branded book. Horseshoe Hammond led terrestrial books, with $13 million, followed by Hollywood Lawrenceburg&#8217;s $9 million. Yes, long-suffering <strong>Cincinnati Bengals<\/strong> fans are wagering on their team\u2014but are they betting for it to <em>win<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>* Speaking of <strong>Ohio<\/strong>, its casinos grossed $161 million, a 9% jump. <strong>Dan Gilbert<\/strong>&#8216;s two Jack-branded casinos performed impressively, with <strong>Jack Cleveland<\/strong> gaining 7.5% ($19 million) and <strong>Jack Cincinnati<\/strong> ahead 7% ($17.5 million). <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s two casinos were relatively becalmed, <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-25580\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Park-Exterior-L-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Park-Exterior-L-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Park-Exterior-L-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Park-Exterior-L-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Belterra-Park-Exterior-L-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>with <strong>Hollywood Columbus<\/strong> flat at $18.5 million and <strong>Hollywood Toledo<\/strong> up 1% to $16 million. Ohio gamblers definitely don&#8217;t mind the absence of table games, judging by the performance of the state&#8217;s racinos. <strong>Churchill Downs<\/strong>&#8216; joint-venture <strong>Miami Valley Gaming<\/strong> galloped 24.5% forward, grossing $15.5 million, while <strong>Jack Thistledown<\/strong> was a frisky 18.5% up to $12 million. <strong>MGM Northfield Park<\/strong> retained its top spot in the Buckeye State, up 6% to $21.5 million, while <strong>Belterra Park<\/strong> gained 8% to $7 million. <strong>Scioto Downs<\/strong> leapt 13.5% to $15 million and <strong>Hollywood Dayton<\/strong> was up 10.5% to $10 million, while overachiever <strong>Hollywood Mahoning Valley<\/strong> cantered 11% forward to $10 million.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Missouri<\/strong> casinos grossed $144.5 million, a 4.5% uptick surely not entirely attributable to that extra weekend day. Slots ($124 million) were up 8% while tables ($20.5 million) gained 12%. Despite shedding 2.5%, <strong>Ameristar St. Charles<\/strong> retained the top spot with $21 million. Close behind were <strong>Hollywood St. Louis<\/strong>, surging 14% to $20 million, and <strong>River <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-25581\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Ameristar-Kansas-City-Table-Games-L-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Ameristar-Kansas-City-Table-Games-L-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Ameristar-Kansas-City-Table-Games-L-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Ameristar-Kansas-City-Table-Games-L-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>City<\/strong>, almost hitting $20 million for a 1% gain. <strong>Lumiere Place<\/strong> fell 5.5% to $12 million. <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong> seems to be ceding all the gains that <strong>Tropicana Entertainment<\/strong> made. In the <strong>Kansas City<\/strong> area <strong>Ameristar Kansas City<\/strong> was tops with $16.5 million, a 12% upsurge, followed by <strong>Harrah&#8217;s North Kansas<\/strong> ($14.5 million, +5.5%) and <strong>Argosy Riverside<\/strong> ($14 million, +2%), while <strong>Isle of Capri<\/strong> brought up the rear with $5.5 million for a 7% gain. There was significant movement in some of the outstate casinos, with <strong>Mark Twain<\/strong> springing 21.5% to $3 million, <strong>Lady Luck Caruthersville<\/strong> gaining 12.5% to $3 million and <strong>Isle of Capri Boonville<\/strong> up 10% to $6.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Galaxy Entertainment<\/strong> is officially out of the <strong>Philippines<\/strong>, having been left high and dry by its joint venture partner. Said the latter&#8217;s <strong>Eusebio Tanco<\/strong>, &#8220;We are not looking at a casino.\u00a0But I\u2019m keeping that <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-21505\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Duterte.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"134\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Duterte.jpg 220w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Duterte-113x150.jpg 113w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 134px) 100vw, 134px\" \/>piece of land.\u00a0I\u2019ll just hold on to that piece of land, but I\u2019m not going to do a casino there. I\u2019ll just land-bank it.\u201d The Galaxy project had been stalled ever since authoritarian Filipino ruler <strong>Rodrigo Duterte<\/strong> said,\u00a0\u201cThe voice of the people is the voice of god. If it is the wish of the population here that they do not want a casino, then there will be no casino.\u201d Who can argue with the voice of God?<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0That <strong>Las Vegas Strip<\/strong> craze for steak continues, this time at the <strong>Flamingo<\/strong>. A Mob-themed restaurant, <strong>Steaks &amp; Alibis<\/strong>, is under construction, whereupon you will have the opportunity to &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/vegas.eater.com\/2019\/12\/9\/21001989\/flamingo-steakhouse-buffet-opening-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have dinner with the family<\/a>.&#8221; It&#8217;s an offer you can&#8217;t refuse\u2014and, yes, they play a joke off that, too.<\/p>\n<p>* In the era of resort fees, it&#8217;s not surprising that hotel customers would want to get back at their hosts. As <strong>CNN<\/strong> reports, coffee makers are going AWOL\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/12\/09\/world\/mattresses-stolen-luxury-hotels-intl-scli\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">as are mattresses<\/a>, believe it or not. (<em>Full confession<\/em>: I once took a robe from a <strong>Hilton<\/strong> after they wouldn&#8217;t sell it to me.) The dead of night is the favored time for sneaking pilfered mattresses past security\u2014evidently no one is checking the eye in the sky. Nor are TVs safe, despite often being bolted to the wall. &#8220;In a lot of cases, [hotels] don&#8217;t report it to the police, because they don&#8217;t want to be connected to crime,&#8221; said <strong>Wellness Heaven<\/strong> CEO <strong>Tassilo Keilmann<\/strong>.
