They are: <strong>1)<\/strong> The evolving <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong> takeover of <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong>. Early indications are that Eldorado will try to keep all four <strong>Atlantic City<\/strong> casinos of the <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8199\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/CaesarsBallysAC.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/CaesarsBallysAC.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/CaesarsBallysAC-150x99.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>merged companies.\u00a0\u201cAnytime you see mergers and consolidations within an industry, you get concerned about whether or not there will be contraction in terms of things like the number of employees,\u201d added gaming consultant <strong>Dan Heneghan<\/strong>. <strong>2)<\/strong> The continued rise of sports betting and Internet gambling. Both are raking it in hand over fist. &#8220;<strong>Nevada<\/strong> is clearly in our sights,&#8221; said Gov. <strong>Phil Murphy<\/strong> (D), apropos of sports betting. &#8220;We can overtake it as early as [2020].&#8221;\u00a03) Expansion of gambling in <strong>Philadelphia<\/strong>. [Ever contrary, we think it will result in local cannibalization, not an existential threat to A.C.] 4) More casino amenities, which now account for 47% of overall revenue.\u00a0\u201cThe product is constantly being <!--more-->refreshed by operators, creating a buzz about Atlantic City. That is further strengthening our position as a destination resort and helps to differentiate us from other locations,\u201d said casino boffin <strong>Rummy Pandit<\/strong>. <strong>5)<\/strong> Tax incentives from the state to promote diversified development.\u00a0\u201cYou\u2019ve got the mechanism, you\u2019ve got the will and now you just need to identify the plans and put them into practice,\u201d said <strong>Spectrum Gaming Group<\/strong> exec <strong>Michael Pollock<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressofatlanticcity.com\/news\/casinos_tourism\/five-atlantic-city-casino-stories-to-watch-for-in\/article_c2e0ee0a-04e3-506a-ac61-3481b920a245.html#9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">That seems to cover the bases<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, <strong>Carl Icahn<\/strong> continues to cling to failed, decrepit <strong>Trump Plaza<\/strong>, filing no demolition permits. Perhaps Uncle Carl is hoping against hope (and reality) that the Trump brand will make a Boardwalk comeback. And <strong>Tilman Fertitta<\/strong> won&#8217;t be happy if <strong>Bart Blatstein<\/strong> continues with plans to build a casino on a non-restricted parcel of the <strong>Showboat<\/strong>. Fertitta thinks nine casinos is two too many for Atlantic City. A tenth will make him apoplectic.<\/p>\n<p>* Could RFID-chip technology pose a danger to casino workers&#8217; health? <strong>Macao<\/strong> labor groups think so and are agitating (well, as close as the placid Macanese come to agitation) for a study of the smart-chip issue. Casino regulator <strong>DICJ<\/strong> stated,\u00a0\u201cApart from assisting the relevant government departments <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7213\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Macao-chips-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Macao-chips-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Macao-chips-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Macao-chips.jpg 595w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>in conducting regular checks on workplace safety compliance, the bureau also requires casino operators to submit independent, third-party test reports of the gaming facilities when approving such installations.\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ggrasia.com\/casino-tech-health-fears-taken-seriously-macau-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Workers weren&#8217;t mollified<\/a>, calling for disclosure of aforesaid third-party tests. Casino operators, meanwhile, have received letters requesting a 5% pay hike, a graveyard-shift pay differential and a yearly bonus equivalent to two months&#8217; salary. We don&#8217;t know now much of that labor groups are going to <em>get<\/em> but in a tight casino-worker market they actually can negotiate from a position of strength.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Massachusetts<\/strong> is shaving revenue\u2014and jobs\u2014from <strong>Foxwoods Resort Casino<\/strong> and <strong>Mohegan Sun<\/strong>. The latter\u00a0reported net revenues of $992 million last year, a 7% decline, although outside operations provided a hedge against the vagaries of the <strong>Connecticut<\/strong> market. Foxwoods netted $788 million, a 5% dip.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Mike Pence<\/strong> wouldn&#8217;t like this. Not one bit. Table games have come to racinos <strong>Indiana Grand<\/strong> and <strong>Hoosier Park<\/strong>, something he staunchly opposed when he was governor. Not even &#8220;george&#8221; political donations from then-<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-14416\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Pence.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Pence.jpg 183w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Pence-99x150.jpg 99w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 183px) 100vw, 183px\" \/>owner <strong>Spectacle Entertainment<\/strong> could buy his favor. But table games have since been approved and they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theindychannel.com\/news\/working-for-you\/live-table-games-launch-at-two-indiana-casinos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">were rolled out New Year&#8217;s Day<\/a>, with\u00a0<strong>Indiana Pacers<\/strong> star <strong>Victor Oladipo<\/strong> placing one of the first bets.\u00a0&#8220;We think people will come from all over the state, where they might not have come before for table games,&#8221; said Vice President of Operations <strong>Todd Berendji<\/strong>. As thought to confirm him, <strong>Gas City<\/strong> resident\u00a0<strong>Herbert Hillman<\/strong> said he&#8217;d be diverting his action from <strong>Michigan<\/strong> casinos, adding,\u00a0&#8220;A live person is a lot different.\u00a0You know how to bluff them; you know how they play; computer you don&#8217;t. It makes a lot of difference.&#8221; Speaking of difference, we&#8217;ll see if it puts a spring in <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong>&#8216;s step when January revenue numbers emerge.<\/p>\n<p>* How soon will <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/01\/03\/segway-debuts-jurassic-park-inspired-mobile-la-z-boy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">these mobile recliners<\/a> come to a casino megaresort near you? They will certainly do nothing to arrest our country&#8217;s trend toward obesity. Aptly enough, they were unveiled at the <strong>Consumer Electronics Show<\/strong> in <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong>. Which reminds us that <strong>Gary Loveman<\/strong> once pitched the idea of moving banquettes that would transport customers around <strong>Epicentre<\/strong>, the multi-casino metaresort he dreamed of building before he levitated Caesars into bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U6BMzvzv0yg\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of transportation, electric cars are not perceived as sexy. Solution? Two words: <strong>Idris Elba<\/strong>.
