They had 699. Many of the others were illegible, ineligible or had been collected by notaries not in good standing. Worse still,\u00a0\u201cSome people said they were told to sign this <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/senlesniak.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/senlesniak.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/senlesniak-125x150.jpg 125w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>to get on the list for Section 8 housing or to clean up the streets. They were duped,&#8221; said Mayor <strong>Marty Small<\/strong>. Big winner in the showdown was Small. Losers included <strong>Unite-Here<\/strong> labor boss <strong>Robert McDevitt<\/strong>, <strong>Resorts Atlantic City<\/strong> owner <strong>Morris Bailey<\/strong> and former state legislator <strong>Raymond Lesniak<\/strong> (<em>pictured<\/em>). McDevitt was unbowed, saying,\u00a0\u201cMarty Small and his family have been living comfortably for decades off the backs of Atlantic City residents.\u00a0The least he could do out of respect to their contributions to his lavish lifestyle is to tell the truth. Of that, he is incapable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vowing that\u00a0\u201cWe&#8217;re not giving up, and we&#8217;re not going away,\u201d McDevitt turned his ire upon <!--more-->city government. &#8220;This is a cartel.\u00a0It&#8217;s the same dozen or so people who have controlled this city for 30 years, and they have ravaged the government, and we&#8217;re not going to let them anymore. We&#8217;re tired of them taking our money and doing nothing with it.\u201d Small was untroubled, rejoining,\u00a0\u201cIt&#8217;s a great day here in Atlantic City.\u00a0We knew this was not going to go anywhere, be in through the process or at the polls. Thank you for exposing who you really are.&#8221; Small may not have much political power in a city run by <strong>Trenton<\/strong> but for a day he can feel large and in charge.<\/p>\n<p>* When he&#8217;s not fretting about cyber-attacks from <strong>Iran<\/strong>, casino mogul <strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> can now concern himself with ransomware. As the name implies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartbrief.com\/original\/2020\/01\/2020-cybersecurity-trends-industry-poll-interview?utm_source=brief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">it takes your data hostage<\/a> then enables the hacker to demand an exorbitant payday. Cyberinsurance may be contributing to the problem, says <em>Cybersecurity<\/em> Editor <strong>Sarah Nessel<\/strong>: &#8220;In many cases, insurers will pay the ransom demands, because doing so is cheaper than covering lost revenue during the time the targeted entity is unable to operate. This, in turn, encourages more ransomware attacks.&#8221; Nessel isn&#8217;t thrilled with biometrics either: &#8220;Proponents like to tout that biometric authentication will make everyone\u2019s life better by doing away with passwords forever, and they often claim it\u2019s foolproof, but at the moment, that isn\u2019t the case.
