Hard Rock firmly believes it was wrongly disqualified based on an inaccurate <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-25932\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Mohegan-Hellenikon-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Mohegan-Hellenikon-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Mohegan-Hellenikon-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Mohegan-Hellenikon-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Mohegan-Hellenikon-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Mohegan-Hellenikon.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>rationale and a clear conflict of interest. Hard Rock engaged its legal counsel in <strong>Greece<\/strong> and has retained counsel in <strong>Brussels<\/strong> to review the matter,\u201d the company stated. The &#8220;inaccurate rationale&#8221; would be a complaint that Hard Rock didn&#8217;t explain how its project was to be financed. The &#8220;clear conflict of interest&#8221; is that \u201cThe law firm advising the <strong>Hellinikon IRC Tender Committee<\/strong> and the <strong>Hellenic Gaming Commission<\/strong> on our disqualification has also represented a member of the competing bidder since 2008.&#8221; An unnamed member of the <strong>Mohegan Gaming &amp; Entertainment<\/strong>-led consortium is also accused of being part of a &#8220;price-fixing cartel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Hellenikon site is described by <em>Global Gaming Business<\/em> as &#8220;weed-choked and decrepit,&#8221; and yet &#8220;enviably <!--more-->located on the blue waters of the Athenian Riviera.&#8221; The casino, which does not have to be large (but we suspect will be) is but one of several moving parts toward creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/ggbnews.com\/article\/get-them-to-the-greek-mohegans-win-athens-casino-license\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">seaside resort of varied appeal<\/a>. Promised are &#8220;landmark buildings and state-of-the-art infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MGE CEO <strong>Mario Kontomerkos<\/strong> set no small goal for himself, saying,\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s our hope that <strong>Inspire Athens<\/strong> would be the catalyst that sparks the entire <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-21705\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Mario-Kontomerkos-300x190.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Mario-Kontomerkos-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Mario-Kontomerkos-150x95.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Mario-Kontomerkos.jpg 625w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>development of the Hellenikon area into the coveted Athenian Riviera, forever redefining the modern identity of Greece\u201d and growing tourism 10%. He&#8217;s also set the target\u00a0of making the project <strong>Europe<\/strong>&#8216;s #1 convention destination. Stated MGE, &#8220;Inspire Athens intends to be southern Europe\u2019s center for A-list music concerts, theatrical performances, major sporting events, and other arts and cultural activities on a weekly basis.\u201d Considering that <strong>Inspire Incheon<\/strong> is costing $1.6 billion, its Grecian sister will represent a sizable chunk of the overall, $8.6 billion project tab.<\/p>\n<p>* In a week we&#8217;ll be counting up all the money generated by <strong>Super Bowl<\/strong> betting and <a href=\"https:\/\/ggbnews.com\/article\/prop-bets-rule-for-super-bowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">half of it is expected to be generated<\/a> by prop bets. Regulators in <strong>Indiana<\/strong> and <strong>New Jersey<\/strong> have approved this year&#8217;s prop bets, and the two states have four wagers in common:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Team to win the coin toss<\/li>\n<li>Will there be a flea flicker?<\/li>\n<li>Who will the Super Bowl MVP thank first? (<strong>God<\/strong>, we&#8217;d wager)<\/li>\n<li>Player to retire after the game<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gaming historian <strong>David G. Schwartz<\/strong> said of the quirky wagers, \u201cIf they lost money, they wouldn\u2019t offer them &#8230; They stimulate interest and spread the action out. Instead of betting everything on the spread and the over\/under, bettors might split their bets.\u201d Our favorite of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igamingplayer.com\/our-favorite-super-bowl-prop-bets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">all <\/a>the prop bets floating about is whether any scoring drive will take less time than <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-15124\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/NFL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/NFL.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/NFL-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>the singing of the national anthem. (Given the <strong>Kansas City Chiefs<\/strong>&#8216; prolific offense, I&#8217;d bet &#8216;yes.&#8217;) While a few of the prop bets actually focus on the game proper, sites like <strong>Boomaker.eu<\/strong> are having a lot of fun with all the surrounding Super Bowl frou-frou. The site published a list of 54\u2014yes, 54\u2014prop bets ranging from how many times <strong>Mike Shanahan<\/strong> would be shown on-camera (over\/under 1.5) to will <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> tweet during the game (don&#8217;t bet on &#8220;no&#8221;) to whether something called &#8220;J-Lo&#8221; would show butt cleavage (yes: 2\/1).<\/p>\n<p>I can give you more props if you want but it&#8217;s an exhausting list that somebody went to a lot of work to compile. Long-shot bets on other sites include, &#8220;Will the opening kickoff be returned for a touchdown?&#8221; <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-25938\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Jack-300x171.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Jack-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Jack-150x86.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Jack-768x439.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Jack-1024x585.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>(+6,000) Or: &#8220;Will the two-minute warning occur with exactly two minutes left in the half?&#8221; One of the safer bets appears to have the game being decided by a three-point margin. If <strong>Kansas City<\/strong>&#8216;s aerial attack is effectively countered by <strong>San Francisco<\/strong>&#8216;s productive ground game\u2014as many oddsmakers seem to expect\u2014that could very well be the case. (<strong>Miami Seaquariam<\/strong> shark-in-residence <strong>Running Back Jack<\/strong>\u00a0[<em>pictured<\/em>] picks the <strong>49ers<\/strong> to come out ahead.)<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong> CEO <strong>Jim Murren<\/strong>, an<br \/>\nenvironmentally friendly chap, won&#8217;t be pleased with the report card issued by the <strong>Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund<\/strong>. It gives Murren endorsee <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong> a &#8220;C+&#8221; on environmental issues (Sen. <strong>Bernie Sanders<\/strong> [I] gets the only &#8220;A&#8221; and, no, I don&#8217;t support either of these candidates). Sen. <strong>Amy Klobuchar<\/strong> (D) came closest to flunking, eking out a &#8220;D,&#8221; in case you care about such things. If not, we can turn the page to &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>* My wife and I have been assimilated into the <strong>Netflix<\/strong> Borg, as movie theaters continue to blackball Netflix pix. <em>The Irishman<\/em> finds <strong>Robert DeNiro<\/strong> and a sharper-than-ever <strong>Joe Pesci<\/strong> back in <em>Casino<\/em> territory, in a plot that links <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong>, <strong>Jimmy Hoffa<\/strong>, the <strong>Bay of Pigs<\/strong> invasion, the <strong>JFK<\/strong> assassination and <strong>The Mob<\/strong>. Is <strong>Martin Scorsese<\/strong> losing his touch? It&#8217;s a curiously enervated picture and DeNiro&#8217;s unremarkable performance explains his lack of an <strong>Oscar<\/strong> nod. (Sapped by too many in-it-for-the-money outings like <em>Last Vegas<\/em> and <em>Killer Elite<\/em>?)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RS3aHkkfuEI\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Marriage Story<\/em>&#8216;s <strong>Scarlett Johansson<\/strong> ought to win Best Actress but playing a historical figure makes <strong>Ren\u00e9e Zellweger<\/strong> (<em>Judy<\/em>) a lock. <strong>Adam Driver<\/strong> is also very good opposite Johansson but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Joker<\/span> is such a load that <strong>Joaquin Phoenix<\/strong> deserves an Oscar just for carrying it.
