No sooner was the S&G<\/em> software restored to working order than Yr. Humble Blogger was laid low by either A)<\/strong> too much indulgence in Harrah’s Entertainment<\/strong>‘s “Buffet of Buffets” or B)<\/strong> my worst fibromyalgia attack in years. Given Vegas’ recent bouts of Jekyll-and-Hyde weather — balmy one day, blustery the next — I suspect it was “B.” I did manage to crawl out of bed long enough to try and help a family member extract something resembling customer service from the Lost & Found department of Paris-Las Vegas<\/strong>, to no avail. (We’ve received better treatment from Hilton Hotels<\/strong> and Best Western<\/strong>, fer crissakes.)<\/p>\n

Anyway, I see that<\/strong> a hefty pile of unread articles awaits me — to say nothing of news that transpired while S&G<\/em> was still on the fritz. This includes the disclosure that Steve Wynn<\/strong> is still pouting about moving to Communist China<\/strong> because the U.S. of A. is too socialistic for his liking. (Pardon me whilst I yawn.) If that weren’t laughable on its face, remember that this is coming from the man who brought socialism to the Strip by confiscating tip money from dealers and redistributing it to pit bosses. Oh, and Wynn threw in a bit of class warfare at the time, decrying the supposed unfairness of a dealer making less than a “suit,” as though it were an affront to the natural order of Creation.<\/p>\n

There’s little or nothing that I can say about Wynn’s latest snit that hasn’t been already been written by CityLife<\/em> Editor Steve Sebelius<\/strong> in his weekly column. He takes Wynn to the woodshed<\/a> in a manner the local dailies are too cowardly to do.<\/p>\n

Speaking of CityLife<\/em><\/strong>, it would be remiss not to pimp my theatre column. As luck would have it, last weekend saw the opening of simultaneous Shakespearean revivals. If that weren’t a sufficiently rare occurrence in these parts, they’re both reconceptualized as musicals<\/a>. Unfortunately, the one with better songs is otherwise what’s known as a “failed experiment,” tipping the scales toward UNLV<\/strong>‘s (slightly) more traditional offering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
