Win was fairly even divided between slots ($30 million) and tables ($25 million), in a vindication of <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong>&#8216; business plan for the market. <strong>Plainridge Park<\/strong> was flat with $11 and <strong>MGM Springfield<\/strong> had a good month, grossing $22 million and up 9%. Casino win was down 8.5% from October but we&#8217;re discounting that due both to &#8220;seasonality&#8221; and one fewer weekend when compared to two years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\"><strong>Truist Securities<\/strong> analyst <strong>Barry Jonas<\/strong> had a few thoughts on the blockbuster sale of <strong>The Mirage<\/strong> to <strong>Hard Rock International<\/strong>. He scored it a &#8220;modest positive&#8221; for <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong>, while Mirage landlord <strong>Vici Properties<\/strong> is assured &#8220;positives more around Strip tenant diversification and pipeline<em>.<\/em>&#8221; For $1 billion, the <strong>Seminole Tribe<\/strong> is going to have a tough row to hoe when it comes to making a substantial ROI on $64 million in cash flow a year ($154 million minus rent). Our speculation is that The Mirage will be a &#8220;loss leader&#8221; for the Seminoles, at least until they can jazz it up with the Hard Rock brand and new hotel tower, juicing the drawing power of the property. Certain amenities might be in peril but <em>The Beatles: Love<\/em> by <strong>Cirque du Soleil<\/strong> seems a safe bet to stay put, given how it reinforces the new brand identity. No more volcano, though. Consolation prize: Mirage employees\u20143,500 of them\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/hard-rock-confirms-it-will-acquire-mirage-build-guitar-shaped-hotel\/\">get to keep<\/a> their jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"299\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/mirage-pic2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/mirage-pic2.jpg 299w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/mirage-pic2-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Back to Jonas. He estimates MGM will save $100 million it had planned to spend renovating The Mirage and steer the latter&#8217;s cash flow to <strong>The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas<\/strong>, courtesy of <strong>M Life<\/strong>, &#8220;though we believe Mirage has a very loyal property specific player base. Construction at Mirage in a multi-year rebranding to Hard Rock could also be a temporary positive if there is reduced capacity in the market for some time.&#8221; However, &#8220;the Hard Rock database and brand could be a formidable player in the Vegas market once fully open.&#8221; Besides, if you can build on the Strip at all, you can&#8217;t do it for $1 billion, so the Seminoles may have gotten off cheaply, difficult though that is to believe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As <em>S&amp;G<\/em> readers have rightly noted, the Seminoles will\u2014or at least should\u2014face some tough <strong>Nevada Gaming Control Board<\/strong> questioning about their renegade sports-betting operation in <strong>Florida<\/strong> and defiance of federal court orders. How can we be sure they&#8217;ll play by the rules in <strong>Nevada<\/strong>? Hard Rock CEO <strong>Jim Allen<\/strong> is going to have to do some fancy tap-dancing when this license application comes up before the NGCB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Jottings<\/em><\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/station-casinos-development-mode-downtown-las-vegas-venue\/\">Look and see<\/a> <strong>Station Casinos<\/strong>&#8216; new <strong>Wildfire<\/strong> site near <strong>Downtown.<\/strong> It would be nestled next to a <strong>Lowe&#8217;s Home Improvement<\/strong>, which should be good for foot traffic.
