It would not be a building block in a modern city, and that\u2019s what it is now because when you stand at the foot of Aria and look up, yes, you see the beautiful <strong>Cesar Pelli<\/strong> building but as you rotate from left to right, you then see the <strong>KPF<\/strong>-designed <strong>Mandarin Oriental<\/strong>, the <strong>Murphy Jahn<\/strong>[-designed] <strong>Veer Towers<\/strong>, <strong>Daniel Liebeskind<\/strong>\u2019s crazy roof design on <strong>Crystals<\/strong>, you see <strong>Harmon<\/strong> [<strong>Hotel<\/strong>] peeking through the Veer Towers and you see <strong>Rafael Vi\u00f1oly<\/strong>\u2019s stunningly elegant <strong>Vdara<\/strong>.&#8221; &#8212; <em><strong>MGM Mirage<\/strong> CEO <strong>James Murren<\/strong> on why it was imperative to build <strong>CityCenter<\/strong> all at once (and arguably bit off considerably more than MGM or its lead contractor could chew in the process) and not in a phased-in manner<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;It could never have worked if we had done it in phases.
