Slot winnings were good, up 5.5% on 6.5% more coin-in but table win was even better, growing 16% on only 4% higher wagering. Surging 20%, <strong>Borgata<\/strong> was way out in front with $77 million. <strong>Hard Rock Atlantic City<\/strong> leapt 11% to $53 million, while <strong>Ocean Casino Resort <\/strong>catapulted 33% to $40.5 million. Rebranding and renovation helped <strong>Bally&#8217;s Atlantic City<\/strong>, the only other revenue-positive casino, climb up 3.5% to $17 million. Last place went to <strong>Golden Nugget<\/strong>, down 7% to $14.5 million. Strongest of the <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> properties was <strong>Tropicana Atlantic City<\/strong> with $28 million (-5.5%). Despite a 9% decline, <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Resort<\/strong> came in next with $26.5 million, then <strong>Caesars Atlantic City<\/strong> with $25 million (-3%). Rounding out the picture was <strong>Resorts Atlantic City<\/strong>&#8216;s $18 million, down 2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Sports betting win was anemic, year\/year, down 18% to $45 million on handle of $532 million. $22 million of win went to <strong>FanDuel<\/strong>, $8 million to <strong>DraftKings<\/strong> and $4.5 million to <strong>BetMGM<\/strong>. <strong>Caesars Sportsbook<\/strong> was close behind with $4 million but <strong>Barstool Sports<\/strong> barely registered with its $500K. Internet gambling generated a healthy $137 million, divvied up between BetMGM (31.5% of market share), <strong>Golden Nugget Online<\/strong> (25%), <strong>Resorts Digital<\/strong> (22%), Caesars (12%), Hard Rock (4%), Bally&#8217;s (3%) and Ocean (2%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"350\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Sheldon-pasha.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4019\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Sheldon-pasha.gif 350w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Sheldon-pasha-142x150.gif 142w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Sheldon-pasha-285x300.gif 285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">A vacuum-cleaner-style surveillance operation on <strong>Wikileaks<\/strong> founder <strong>Julian Assange<\/strong> has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/cia-spying-assange-illegally-swept-us-lawyers-journalists-lawsuit-1731570\">backfired into a lawsuit<\/a> against former secretary of state <strong>Mike Pompeo<\/strong> and the <strong>CIA<\/strong>. It also has metaphorically exhumed <strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong>. The deceased doge of <strong>Venelazzo<\/strong> stands accused of playing matchmaker between Spanish surveillance firm <strong>Undercover Global<\/strong> and the CIA. Adelson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/new-julian-assange-lawsuit-against-the-cia-could-involve-las-vegas-sands\/\">was already chummy<\/a> with Undercover Global because its head &#8220;had routinely provided private security work for [Adelson] and his family on trips through <strong>Europe<\/strong>.&#8221; Undercover Global infiltrated the embassy of <strong>Ecuador<\/strong> in <strong>London<\/strong>, where Assange was holed up, and allegedly installed recording devices on behalf of &#8220;American friends.&#8221; Those friends were The Company, which reportedly received a steady stream of private information on Assange, courtesy of Adelson&#8217;s Spanish pals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheldon is not the only gaming mogul involved in <em>l&#8217;affaire Assange<\/em>. The prisoner&#8217;s allies include former <strong>Crown Resorts<\/strong> boss <strong>James Packer<\/strong>, who has donated $174,000 to &#8220;Free Julian Assange.&#8221; And if it can be proven that <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> had knowledge of Pompeo&#8217;s spy network, a third ex-gaming bigwig can be added to the mix. Industry stories like this don&#8217;t come along every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Slot routes in <strong>Illinois<\/strong> continued to outpace casinos, grossing $226 million, up 1% from last year. <strong>J&amp;J Ventures<\/strong> edged the competition with $69.5 million, up 4.5%, pursued by <strong>Accel Entertainment <\/strong>with $65 million, up 2%. <strong>Rick Heidner<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Gold Rush Entertainment<\/strong> gained the most, 9%, finishing with $22.5 million. <strong>Penn Entertainment<\/strong> subsidiary <strong>Laettner Entertainment<\/strong> slipped 6% to $4 million. Also in contention were <strong>Prairie State Gaming<\/strong> ($11 million, -6%), <strong>Gaming &amp; Entertainment Managemen<\/strong>t ($8 million, -2%), <strong>Midwest Electronics Gaming<\/strong> ($6 million, flat) and sundry other operators who policed up the remaining $40 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"415\" height=\"332\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4737\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam.jpg 415w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam-150x120.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam-300x240.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 415px) 100vw, 415px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">The <strong>Colorado River<\/strong> is becoming virtually nonexistent but please resist the temptation to blame <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> and Big Gaming. Agriculture is the culprit, as attested to by an 8% reduction in <strong>Nevada<\/strong>&#8216;s allotment of water\u2014but 21% less for<strong> Arizona<\/strong>. Writes the <em>Boston Globe<\/em>&#8216;s <strong>Teresa Hanafin<\/strong>, &#8220;The poor Colorado River has been dammed, diverted, exploited, overused, and manipulated for more than a century just to quench the thirst of millions of Americans who decided it was a good idea to live in a desert and have pools and fountains and lawns &#8230; Add in a 23-year drought, and the river doesn&#8217;t seem to stand a chance of survival.&#8221; The two main reservoirs\u2014<strong>Lake Mead<\/strong> and <strong>Lake Powell<\/strong>\u2014are at 27% and 26% of capacity already. The aforementioned water-use cuts came down from <strong>Washington, D.C.<\/strong>, because the affected states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/environment\/story\/2022-08-16\/colorado-river-basin-states-fail-to-reach-drought-agreement?utm_id=64554&amp;sfmc_id=724477\">couldn&#8217;t get their act together<\/a> and propose voluntary reductions. <strong>California<\/strong> escaped the feds&#8217; wrath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Great Basin Water Network <\/strong>Executive Director <strong>Kyle Roerink<\/strong> put the matter pithily to the <strong>Los Angeles Times<\/strong>: &#8220;it\u2019s like the kids are not playing well in the sandbox together. And we always hear about these notions of everybody singing Kumbaya and the collaboration is so wonderful and so great. How many times have we heard that, but really what\u2019s happening is they\u2019re sharpening their knives?\u201d Added <strong>Center for Biological Diversity<\/strong> co-founder <strong>Robin Silver<\/strong>, &#8220;This is the desert.
