I was going suggest buying the paint at Walmart<\/strong>, what with Harrah’s Entertainment<\/strong> being thrifty and all, but — as a good Democrat — you wouldn’t hold with shopping there, I’m sure.<\/p>\n

Not amused<\/strong>. “Which of these un-honored notables deserves a star on the Vegas Walk of Stars<\/em>,” asks Steve Friess<\/strong>‘ latest Stripper Poll<\/a>. Amazingly, Steve Wynn<\/strong> only holds — as of this writing — a narrow, two-vote lead over Danny Gans<\/strong>. The late Gansmeister one fewer vote than Debbie Reynolds<\/strong>, Joey Bishop<\/strong>, Judy Garland<\/strong>, Peter Lawford<\/strong> and Tom Jones<\/strong> combined<\/em>. I do not find this funny. Thank god it’s an informal plebiscite, otherwise we might have to topple Elvis and Sinatra from the Vegas pantheon, and install the maudlin Gans in their place. But just imagine the gasket Wynn might blow if Gans slips in ahead of him and wins<\/em>. Hey, maybe there’s a funny side to this after all.<\/p>\n

\"\"The good news<\/strong> is that my candidate of choice, Bob Stupak<\/strong>, is making a strong third-place showing. No Sin City entrepreneur lived a more colorful life (as chronicled by John L. Smith<\/strong> in the aptly titled No Limit<\/em><\/a>). However, it has not taken Las Vegans — myself included — long to forget ex-MGM Mirage<\/strong> CEO (and diversity pioneer) J. Terrence Lanni<\/strong>, who got but one vote. Sic transit gloria mundi<\/em>.<\/p>\n
