Once listed as one of S&G<\/em>‘s “Seven Essential Web Sites,” Richard Abowitz<\/strong>‘s blog was briefly — and misguidedly — terminated by the Los Angeles Times<\/em>. Thankfully, the LAT<\/em> has had a change of heart. Abowitz returns with a profile<\/a> of Rio<\/strong>\/Bally’s Las Vegas<\/strong>\/Paris-Las Vegas<\/strong>\/Planet Hollywood<\/strong> President Marilyn Winn<\/strong>. In addition to vouchsafing some insights into the Harrah’s Entertainment<\/strong> corporate culture, Abowitz discloses that Winn was a prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of the late Claudine Williams<\/strong>. She (Winn) says Harrah’s does regular mystery-shopper surveys to optimize performance. Judging by what my correspondents and sources tell me, that secret-shopper reportage must be going straight into the circular file.<\/p>\n
