That elusive critter, native to Nevada<\/strong>, the “Trailer Station”* was sighted earlier today by visiting S&G<\/em> readers. United Coin<\/strong> had set up shop on W. Charleston Boulevard, in the former Skinny Dugan’s Pub<\/strong>. (This is a mandatory ritual for gaming-enabled sites that don’t have 200 0r more hotel rooms, lest they lose their gambling entitlement.)<\/p>\n

\"\"When I saw, I heard the immortal words of Steve Wynn<\/strong>: “There’s nothing worse than a dead porte cochere<\/em>.” How true, Steve. How true.<\/p>\n

* — the nomenclature was invented by the R-J<\/em>‘s Howard Stutz<\/strong> after United Coin hauled a trailer out to the Castaways<\/strong> site, upon which Station Casinos<\/strong> was extending its gaming entitlement at the time (a status that was re-extended earlier this year). Speaking of Stutz, the Newspaper That Must Not Be Cited has him on Primary Night<\/strong> duty. One doesn’t know whether to congratulate him on a temporary (?) elevation to the political beat or console him for being the victim of TNTMNBC’s refusal to maintain an adequate political staff.<\/p>\n

The man who would be kingmaker<\/strong>. Unless you were voting Republican, Primary Day in Nevada was better than Sominex. However, I will admit to enjoying voting against Bernie Zadrowski<\/strong>‘s bid for a justiceship. It’s not because Zadrowski is collection agent for the casinos — it’s part of his job as head of the D.A.’s Bad Check Unit (a questionable use of public resources — until one considers the alternative, which usually involves guys named “Lefty” and “Joey the Clown”).<\/p>\n

No, it’s because of Zadrowski’s efforts to become the next Sig Rogich<\/strong>. Being a political string-puller in Clark County<\/strong> hardly seems appropriate for someone with aspirations to the bench, IMO. In fact, it doesn’t sit well that Zadrowski was cracking the whip on casino deadbeats at a time when, as party co-chair, he might have to hit those same casinos up for donations to the cause.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
