The track <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/business\/articles\/2010\/07\/07\/suffolk_downs_unveils_proposal_for_resort_style_casino_complex\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">has three things going for it<\/a>: proximity to <strong>Boston<\/strong> plus the good offices of House Speaker <strong>Robert DeLeo<\/strong> and Beantown Mayor <strong>Thomas M. Menino<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>S&amp;G<\/em> almost had a coughing spasm when the <em>Boston Globe<\/em> described Downs owner <strong>Richard Fields<\/strong> as &#8220;<em>a deep-pocketed developer who has successfully built two major casinos  in Florida<\/em>.&#8221; Maybe so but this was the guy who couldn&#8217;t<!--more--> pull the trigger on a purchase of <strong>Trump Marina<\/strong> even after the casino was marked down to <strong>K-Mart<\/strong> prices. I&#8217;m just sayin&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of deep pockets, <strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> is lying back in the tall grass out in <strong>Marlborough<\/strong>, where he&#8217;s been quietly amassing land for his own casino proposal, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/local\/massachusetts\/gallery\/04_22_10_proposed_casino_sites\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">one of at least six<\/a> on the table.
