The <em>Reader&#8217;s Digest<\/em> Condensed Version is as follows:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: #000000; font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5038\" title=\"harryreid_t178\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/harryreid_t178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"178\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/harryreid_t178.jpg 178w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/harryreid_t178-118x150.jpg 118w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 178px) 100vw, 178px\" \/>\u201cStaffers for &#8230; Reid are circulating a bill to  legalize poker playing on the <strong>Internet<\/strong> that&#8217;s backed by large casino interests.  The <strong>Nevada<\/strong> casino companies pushing the measure were among the Democrat&#8217;s biggest donors  during his fierce re-election fight. They argue the bill would provide consumer  protection for poker players and would provide some tax revenue for federal and  state governments. On Wednesday, three Republican lawmakers [including Rep.  <strong>Spencer Bachus<\/strong>, ranking Republican on <strong>House Financial Services<\/strong>] sent a letter to  Mr. Reid and Minority Leader <strong>Mitch McConnell<\/strong> opposing any efforts to pass  Internet poker legislation during the lame-duck session. \u2026 Mr. Reid&#8217;s office is  considering language that would allow <em>only existing casinos, horse tracks and  slot-machine makers<\/em> to operate online poker websites for the first two years  after the bill passes, which could limit the ability of other companies to enter  the market. The bill would also outsource <!--more-->oversight to state regulators, another  move supported by existing casinos.\u201d (<em>Emphases added<\/em>.)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right, if you&#8217;ve had a casino, a parimutuel or a slot company <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasvegassun.com\/news\/2010\/dec\/03\/us-online-poker-1st-ld-writethru\/\" target=\"_blank\">for the past five years<\/a>, Sixty Votes Reid will juice you into the &#8216;Net-bet world. Start-ups can go suck eggs. When you&#8217;ve got a representative in Washington, D.C., who can gift-wrap <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2010-12-03\/igt-says-report-of-online-gaming-proposal-may-have-boosted-stock.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">access to billions of dollars in online revenue<\/a> in this fashion, you darn well want to keep him in place. Today&#8217;s dispatch should have <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> execs, who would dearly love to leverage their <strong>World Series of Poker<\/strong> into an online casino jumping with understandable joy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Another Harrah&#8217;s defection<\/strong>: Upon the heels of <strong>Planet Hollywood<\/strong> prexy <strong>Marilyn Winn<\/strong>&#8216;s ship-jump to <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong>, Regional Vice President <strong>Joseph C. Howard<\/strong> (USMC, ret.) is leaving his Vegas post to join <strong>Fine Point Group<\/strong>, rising star of the casino-management sector. Howard&#8217;s a security specialist whose tenure at then-<strong>Harrah&#8217;s Entertainment<\/strong> included protecting the current POTUS and his two predecessors.
