Some do-it-yourself ninja got busted sneaking a samurai sword<\/a> into Casino Rama<\/strong>, in Ontario. As far as exotic weaponry on the casino floor, S&G<\/strong> thinks this takes the prize.<\/p>\n

The not-so-great ATM caper<\/strong>. Both Wired.com<\/strong> and the Christian Science Monitor<\/em> have been carrying stories on sinister ATM-alikes<\/a> positioned to capture conventioneers' cash at the Riviera<\/strong>. Since the alleged scam occurred during DefCon<\/strong>, a conclave of hackers, you wouldn't be much of a criminal mastermind if you thought such a scheme would go undetected.<\/p>\n

Expanding on the story, the CSM<\/em> reports that the not-ATM was stationed across from the Riv's security office<\/a> — a brazen move, if true, and that a similar scheme was unmasked at The Rio<\/strong>. However …<\/em><\/p>\n

Riviera brass say<\/strong> it was a mixture of hoax and misunderstanding. It was their<\/em> ATM, they say, and they were the ones who took it offline in anticipation of DefCon. Because, gosh, you wouldn't want operational ATMs in your convention area when it's aswarm with conventioneers, would you? People might actually, like, use it.<\/p>\n
