No wonder Harrah’s Las Vegas<\/strong> gave Legends in Concert<\/em> an eviction notice a scant two days after \u00a0a major promotional event. The venerable casino landed Million Dollar Quartet<\/em>, which played a critically acclaimed<\/a> but very \"\"limited engagement at the Smith Center for the Performing Art<\/strong>s. The low-overhead, high-recognition Broadway<\/strong> hit is a logical follow-up to Paris-Las Vegas<\/strong>‘ acquisition of Jersey Boys <\/em>and is a nostalgic natural for the Strip<\/a>, <\/em>opening next Feb. 4.<\/em> It stands to reason that the Caesars Entertainment <\/strong>statisticians were closely measuring M$Q<\/em>‘s box office performance last summer in Vegas and it’s fact that high-ranking execs checked it out in person. This Quartet<\/em>-for-Legends<\/em> shuffle was rumored last June but it took much longer than expected to consummate a deal. Perhaps this indeed means that Legends<\/em> is destined for The Rio<\/strong> but Caesars remains mum on the topic.\u00a0M$Q<\/em>‘s touring company roams the East Coast (mostly) through next spring, winding up next May in Tucson<\/strong>. (The future of the Chicago<\/strong> production appears secure.) But it’ll steer clear of the West Coast and will be in few tourist destinations remotely comparable to Vegas. So score one for Caesars.<\/p>\n

Bad news for traditional media<\/strong>: Even that sturdiest of scribes, Clark Kent<\/strong>, is giving up on ink-and-paper, profit-driven journalism<\/a> and taking his fight for truth, justice and the American way to “the Internets.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
