It’s the time of year when hotels begin rolling out their quarterly promotions, and I try to read through all of them. I don’t stay at Best Western a lot, but the latest Best Western Promotion does have an advantage play, depending on how you use your points.
So if you want a room in New York, Paris or, of course, Las Vegas (which has five properties within ten miles of the city, including the Stratosphere and Casino Royale), be sure to check this one out.

The Advantage Play With the Best Western Promotion
For this promotion, they’re counting the number of “stays” you have, not nights. As a reminder, a “stay” is one check-in and check-out, regardless of how many nights fall in between. Therefore, two one-night stays are worth 6,000 points, while one two-night stay is worth only 3,000. That’s an odd way to run it, because the hotel incurs more expenses on two stays, but hey, it’s their bonus. They get to make the rules.
Best Western reward nights range from 8,000 to 36,000 points. For instance, rooms at the Strat typically run at 36K (plus a resort fee, of course), while Casino Royale is 24,000. Hotels not on the Strip cost 20,000. Bottom line: You’ll have to pay for a few stays before you get a free one, but it’s not a bad ratio if you’re looking to save some cash.
Remember to get your free elite status. Earlier this year, we posted about ways to get to Caesars Diamond Status and mentioned, almost in passing, that Best Western has a “no questions asked” match policy. So if you have status at a competitor, BW will happily match you to its equivalent level. If nothing else, it will get you more Best Western bonus points with each stay.
Whether you stay at Best Western or not, you should register for the promotion. Why? Because Rule #1 of the eight rules of points and miles is that if it costs you nothing to do so, there’s no downside. You never know when you’ll end up at one of their properties.
