Every 3 — 4 months, The major hotel brands launch their major promotions that are intended to swing your business in their direction. The quality of the bonuses varies, but Hilton’s are usually among the better ones. The company’s next promo is no different. Power Up, a Hilton Honors promotion that includes triple points in Las Vegas.

Helpful hint: This Hilton Honors promotion is particularly potent in Las Vegas. While you can find Hilton brands in virtually every city, Las Vegas is above average, with more than two dozen Hilton family properties. This is a great opportunity to earn triple points in Las Vegas.

Earn Up To Double Triple Points With Hilton’s Power Up Promotion

Register Today: Hilton Honors Power Up

It’s standard for Hilton to offer double points as a bonus, but September’s Hilton Honors Power Up * makes it possible to earn up to triple points. Once you’re registered, you’ll earn double base points on every stay between September 9 and January 5, 2020. Conservatively, I value HH points at 0.4 cents each, but you should be able to do better.

Got a Hilton credit card? Good. Because every stay that you pay for with your card will earn you triple points. Since most Hilton brands give you 10 points per dollar spent, you’ll earn at least 30 points per dollar, not counting any elite benefits that you may have.

Two Good Hilton Card Options to Triple Your Fun

If you don’t have a Hilton credit card, the simplest play is the Hilton Honors American Express Card. It has no annual fee, gives you Silver elite status with Hilton (an additional 20% on your base points) and a 90,000 point sign-up bonus when you spend $2,000 in the first three months. 90,000 points will get you a couple of nights at the Flamingo or several nights at a hotel near McCarran.

Wanna go wild ‘n crazy? The Hilton Honors Surpass Card gets you Gold status (an additional 80%) and 12 points per dollar at Hilton properties. The sign-up bonus is 130,000 points and a free night after spending $4,000 in the first four months. The annual fee is $95, but I value the points alone at $520, giving you a risk-free $425 return.**

Note: Hilton is aware that this promotion is going to cause a rush on credit card applications. The oversized sign-up bonuses return to their normal levels on Thursday, August 29.

Hilton Got This One Right

The best promotions are easy to understand and offer the opportunity to rack up the points nicely. This Hilton Honors Promotion does both. On top of that, there are no “gotcha” clauses, such as excluding hotels, or not giving you a bonus until your second stay during the promotion period.

*One thing Hilton is not always good at is giving me working links. If the above link doesn’t work, simply sign into your Hilton Honors account, click on “My Offers” on the left and then “Eligible Offers.” That link will work.

**For those of you who really love the points game: The promotion gets you 30 points per dollar; The Surpass card will give you an additional 12 points per dollar spent at a Hilton property; and the 80% Gold bonus will get you 8 more points. That’s 50 points per dollar spent, the equivalent of a 20% rebate on every hotel room!
