World Of Hyatt Promotion

We knew that when the hotels sensed that people were ready to travel again, they’d come out and hit the bonuses hard, just to get you moving. LVA Travel is excited about the new World of Hyatt Promotion.

Hyatt has started and set the bar reasonably high, with a triple points promotion that offers something extra for its elite members.

Triple World Of Hyatt Points (And Then Some)

Double points promos are quite common, but we don’t see a lot of triple pointers like Hyatt’s Bonus Journeys, which runs from June 15 – September 15. There’s a lot to like about the offer, although I’m actually going to start with a few things that I don’t like and get them out of the way.

The 3X bonus doesn’t start until your second stay. It’s a little too much of the “what have you done for me lately” attitude.
There are two different registration links, and you must register by August 31. Members with elite status should register here. If you don’t have elite status, that’s okay, you’re still important to Hyatt and should sign up here. I have no idea what happens if you use the wrong link, but I think that it is something akin to crossing the streams.
You’re limited to 200,000 bonus points from the offer, although I don’t think that a lot of people will hit that threshold.

Here’s the Good Stuff

Triple Hyatt points is a valuable promotion. I recently booked a Hyatt property for 20,000 points that would have cost ~$500 if I had paid for it outright. We booked two rooms for five nights each, so those points saved me $5,000 in hotel bills. I wouldn’t put the value of a Hyatt point at 2.5 cents, but 1.7 – 2.0 cents each is reasonable.

You earn five base points per dollar spent, so you’re looking at 15 points per dollar before any elite bonuses.
Partners count, so if you stay at an M life property or participating Small Luxury Hotels location, you’ll qualify for triple points.
If your first stay is going to be an expensive one, here’s a little trick: Before that stay, spend a night at a cheap Hyatt property, using cash or World of Hyatt points. Free nights start at 5,000 points, so it makes sense to spend the points if your expensive stay earns you more points because of the triple bonus.
If you have elite status, they’ll give you 2,500 bonus points on your first stay.
