We’ve had a couple more new hotel promotions roll out over the past couple of weeks, and you can join them, just in time for Halloween. Or sometime after. It’s up to you.

IHG: Up to Quadruple Points
New Hotel Promotions

new hotel promotions

This year, IHG Rewards Club is the house that hands out the full-sized candy bars. The chain consists of a dozen brands, with IHG brands having familiar names like InterContinental, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, among others.

The current offer is one of the better ones that I’ve seen from lodging companies. Be sure to register and book by December 15, and you’ll earn up to quadruple base points (usually 10 points per dollar spent) for stays through January 30. I’ve seen triple points offers before, but have a hard time remembering quadruples. If it asks you for a promotion code, try 37176.

Note: If you registered for the quarterly IHG Accelerate promotion, this current one should stack with it.

Marriott’s “Unlock More” Offers Less
New Hotel Promotions

If IHG is the generous house, then Marriott is the one where the owner screams at the kids to get off his lawn. The first of our eight rules of points and miles is that you should sign up for every promotion, even if you don’t think you’ll use it. But this one is pushing the limits. (Also, be sure to check out all the Bonvoy brands.)

Register for the promotion and stay twice between October 29 and January 14, and you’ll earn a measly 2,000 points. I value Marriott points at about 0.7 cents each, meaning that the bonus is worth a whopping $14. And remember, you need two stays, not just two nights. That means two separate check-ins and check-outs, regardless of how many nights you are there.

But wait, there’s more! Once you complete your two stays, you’ll get a “mystery bonus” with an offer to earn more points. You’d think that they’d offer something good after the lousy first offer, but I wouldn’t count on it. Per Flyertalk, here are some of the extras.

The bottom line? Have a nice Halloween, but remember to visit the good houses.

*Hat tip: I first saw this offer at View from the Wing.
