Travel Good News — and….
It’s been another good-news-bad-news week for the world of travel as we near the end of the year from hell. I really wish we could just have more travel good news.

On the plus side, the news around vaccines is looking that much brighter. Both Pfizer and Moderna seem to have vaccines with 95% efficacy, and the FDA appears to be close to authorizing use of the former’s drug. Airlines like American and Delta are looking to get people back on planes with pre-flight COVID tests. Marriott’s stock was up 37% in November.
But all that optimism is still on the come and the news today remains grim. The New York Times noted that we are reaching a peak in the daily rate of deaths, surpassing even what we saw in the spring. According to the article, we’re now averaging 200,000 cases per day and have hit 15 million in total in the United States alone.
The bottom line is just another reminder: Please be careful. We likely haven’t seen the results of Thanksgiving travel, and we still have Christmas week, traditionally one of the busiest weeks for leisure travel, coming up.
2021 just can’t get here fast enough.

And, In Other News…
A few weeks ago, I got an offer for free nights from The Cosmopolitan. I haven’t been there in two years and consider nickel slots to be for high rollers, so if they’re trying to get me to come, they’re way past scraping the bottom of the barrel.
There are plenty of deals to be had in the city, particularly at the luxury end of the range. We’re hoping to bring you some of those deals, so keep an eye here in the coming months.
Wait? Is Caesars Extending MY (Diamond) Status?
It seems to be super clear that Caesars Rewards is extending your status if you earned it. But, should those that obtained Caesars Diamond Status via a status match be worried? Maybe yes, maybe no.
And, In Other, Other News
- We’re getting closer to seeing the 737 Max back in the air.
- On the plus side, Australia is starting to relax some of its COVID restrictions.
- Apparently, there is such a thing as “American Food.” To the rest of the world: We’re sorry.
