We’re back with another week of TWIT (This Week In Travel) notes. This week, we’ll see a bad week for Princess Cruises<\/a>, a Las Vegas airline spreading its wings and a hotel where you could get seasick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Bad Week For Princess<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wow. This week in travel was enough to make even a cruise fanatic like me think twice before stepping onboard. It started with the quarantine of the Diamond Princess in Japan<\/a>, after hundreds of passengers were stricken with the coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it’s continued with the Caribbean Princess<\/a>, which was forced to return to Florida after almost 10% of the people on board were diagnosed with symptoms that seem similar to those of the Norovirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s hope that things improve over the next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allegiant Adds Three More Cities To Las Vegas – This Week in Travel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ultra-low-cost carrier Allegiant Air is adding flights between three more cities and Las Vegas<\/a>. The destinations are Fort Wayne, IN; San Diego, CA; and Tucson, AZ… The airline is opening the routes with introductory fares as low as $43 one-way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allegiant Air is an unusual carrier in that it tries to go where the people aren’t<\/em>. They fly leisure passengers from smaller cities like Bangor, ME that doesn’t get a lot of service from the major carriers. They keep the fares rock-bottom but make up the difference on fees, such as baggage and seat assignments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the problem with flying to small cities is that you only have so many passengers that you can carry, so they’ve been forced to expand into a few larger cities to maintain their growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sweden’s Floating Hotels<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Because who wouldn’t want to be in a hotel that floats<\/a>, attached to land by a wooden bridge? I’m guessing that the temperature, though, is a little different from the standard overwater bungalows that you would stay in Bora Bora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
