A few weeks ago, Wynn Slots App announced that it would be implementing “VIP Levels.” That’s never a good thing, and now we know just how bad these Wynn Slots App changes are. And before I forget, another thank you to the Wynn Slots Facebook Group for filling in a lot of the blanks. Crowdsourcing is a wonderful thing.

Warning: As of the timing of this post, there are still significant technical difficulties with the game, including the collection of VIP Points. Don’t spend any money until they work out the kinks.

Wynn Slots App CHANGES

Introducing Wynn Slots VIP Levels (1-5)

VIP Levels are Wynn’s way of making it more difficult to get a free room. Simple as that. You earn VIP points by completing events, collecting your hourly bonuses and, naturally, by buying coins. Hourly bonuses give you 5 or 15 points, depending on the type of bonus that you collect. When making purchases, you’ll receive VIP points at the rate of $1 = 100 points. You need to be at Level 2 to get rooms, and it appears to be difficult to get there without making any purchases.

You can find your VIP level in the purple circle on the top right-hand corner of the home page. Click on it to see the rules. Above, you see the status page. It shows you where you stand currently, as well as how many points you need for the next level.

According to the game, when you achieve status, the clocks begin. First, you’ll have 90 days to earn enough points to get to the next level. If you don’t make it, your VIP points (not level) go to zero, at which point, you’ll have another 90 days to earn enough points to maintain your current level. If you fail again, both your points and level will be reset to zero. No soft landings.

Note that, for the initial leveling, you only have 28 days to renew status.

VIP Benefit

There’s a little bit of good news here, in that you can now redeem at Level 1 for buffets. At this point, I don’t have much information on what the buffet rates are, although the room rates do not appear to have changed from what they were previously. ‘The upper levels get you a discount on the amount of coins you need to cash out for a room, but they’re incidental. The real purpose of this change was to limit the number of free rooms that Wynn was handing out.

Other Changes

  • There’s now a cancellation charge which appears to be equal to 1/4 of the points that you redeemed. Oh, good.
  • There are still a ton of technical difficulties, the most serious of which seems to be, the system is not actually tracking VIP points as you earn them.
  • The easiest way to hit Level 2 is to spend the $100 and buy the VIP points (as well as coins, of course) that will get you there. Of course, your room is no longer free but if you’re buying four nights, that’s a pretty good deal at $25 per night. And there’s no resort fee. Do not spend a penny to level up until you are sure that you’re going to go! The last thing you want is to waste $100 on a perk that you’ll never use.

My Final Thoughts – Still Worth It

Given the ease with which one can earn gems, it was inevitable that there would be some Wynn Slots App changes. And in this case, there’s no way to frame it as anything other than “change is bad.” But it’s their game, so they get to make the rules. At this point, it still seems worth it to play.
