Wynn – Free Hotel Rooms? Really?

Updated 11/13/20 for new games, Clubs and Seasons features.

Are you ready to learn about the Wynn Slots App? Most visitors to Las Vegas think that they need to be high rollers to get a free room. And to get a free room at the Wynn Las Vegas, you need to be a really high roller, right?

Fortunately, that’s not the case. The internet has provided an easy way to stay for free in a luxury property, and all you have to do is play free slots online. MGM’s myVEGAS is the best known, but there’s a new player on the scene.*

But first, a word from our sponsors. Okay, who are we kidding, we don’t have any sponsors. But if you want to get cash back for all of your online purchases, including travel, take 30 seconds to check out these cash back shopping portals.

Wynn Slots – You Don’t Have to Risk a Cent

Wynn Slots App – Homepage

Last year, Wynn Las Vegas launched the Wynn Slots App. The premise is simple: They give you free coins to play the virtual machines every few hours, and you play to earn gems. The more you play, the more gems you get. Once you accumulate enough, you can trade them in for a free room.

Note that, as of September 2019, Wynn has implemented “VIP Levels,” which I will discuss below. But you’ll need to make it to Level 3 in order to cash out for free rooms.

Getting Started is Easy – Wynn Slots

It’s a simple process. Download the game and they will start you with eight million coins. You can get another two million for linking a Facebook account. There’s nothing to say that it has to be your primary account.

Free Coins Through Bonuses

You can now collect the Silver chest, which is available every 15 minutes

Want free coins? Just visit the bonus section (in purple above) periodically and collect your coins. There are three types of bonuses, and they are all free:

  • Silver chests become available every fifteen minutes and provide a small bonus, generally from 10,000 — 40,000 coins.
  • Gold chests come every three hours. They’ll gift you 80,000 — 120,000 coins.
  • If you redeem your bonus multiple days in a row, the game will give you a 2X or 3X multiplier on each chest.
  • Bingo! No, really, there’s a bingo game. Don’t worry, you don’t have to do anything. The games last ten minutes and are either gold (one number per 10m coins spent) or platinum (50m). If you get a bingo, you get a scratcher card at the round’s level. The bingo icon (a gold star in a circle) is at the bottom of the game screen.
  • And finally, every twelve hours, you can spin the virtual reel, where you can win anywhere between 100,000 and one million coins.

As you play more, the casino will open up more games to you. For those who don’t get a thrill from the slots, the best thing to do is to put the game on autoplay and let the computer do everything for you.

Earning Coins And Gems Through Events

The fastest way to earn a lot of coins is through Wynn Slots “Events.” Multiple times per day, and running through the night, the app will offer an event, which gives you a list of in-game tasks to complete. You’ll find the event by clicking on the icon on the home screen. For instance, in the photo at the top of this post, we can see that I am in the “Chase The Mammoth” event. Each time you finish a task, you’ll get a scratch card, which will win you coins. Finish all four and you’ll get a bonus fifth scratch card.

The Silver Scratcher can win you a range of prizes

There are four types of scratch cards, each of which will get you one of four prizes. The harder the task, the better the scratch card. Note that the amount you win is predetermined. The order in which you scratch doesn’t make a difference.

  • Bronze: Win 50,000; 100,000; 500,000; or 1 million coins.
  • Silver: Win 500,000; 1 million; 2 million; or 4 million coins.
  • Gold: Win 3 million; 5 million; 8 million; or 12 million coins
  • Platinum: Win 12 million; 18 million; 24 million; or 40 million coins

The only time that the Platinum scratcher shows up is as the fifth “bonus” scratcher, and that’s only during certain events.

Helpful Hint: The hardest task is almost always one that requires you to win a crazy number of coins, like 200 — 250 million. A fast way to get there is the “Hyperbonus” in the game “Hong Bao.” The hyper allows you to “buy” bonus spins for coins and, if you buy at a high level, it will get you toward your goal that much more quickly. But remember, if you pay 30 million coins for an expensive hyperbonus, you could still end up with nothing.

Other Ways To Earn Coins And Gems

Wynn Slots App

These may not be the best ways to accumulate your stash, but every little bit helps. Remember, the goal of this game is to accumulate gems, which you can exchange for rooms. And you can’t get those gems unless you have coins to play.

  • Battles: Click on “Battle Mode” and you’ll go into competition with another player (or a game-controlled bot). Choose your wager, either 200,000; 1 million; 10 million; or 80 million coins. You’ll each get 20 spins in a “winner-takes-all” competition. Whoever has the most coins at the end of the 20 spins wins the entire pot. Note: There’s no guarantee that the amount you win will even cover the price of entry.
  • Tournaments: Every several hours, the game will run a tournament. You’re automatically entered into the tournament if you’re playing the game. You can win billions of coins if you are one of the top players during the tournament period. The bad news is that, unless you are betting millions of coins per spin, you’re probably not going to win one of those prizes.
  • Join a Club: Work with teammates to complete events and get a percentage of other members’ coin purchases.
  • Seasons: Every “season,” which runs 30 days, offers you a chance to work your way through a map on the “Seasons” page. As you earn more coins in each season, you’ll get better prizes.

The VIP Level — What You Need to Cash Out

In September 2019, Wynn threw a bit of a curveball into the equation. Given how easy it is to earn gems, the hotel was giving out rooms faster than it cared to. So they implemented what they call the “VIP Levels.” It’s a parallel point system, similar to an “elite status” program. The key is to make it to Level 3, which is when you can start cashing out for rooms. It is difficult, but not impossible, to hit that tier without buying chips. Level 1 starts at 2,500 points and Level 2 kicks in at 10,000.

Here’s are the base VIP points:

  • 1 points for collecting the Gold Chest (every three hours) bonus
  • 1 points for collecting the Wheel spin (every 12 hours) bonus
  • 2 points for completing the Gold Scratcher events
  • 9 points for completing the Diamond Scratcher event

Update 1/2/20: The base VIP points do tend to move around a bit and may not be the exact same as what you see here.

You may earn more depending on your level, and Wynn Slots moves them around a bit. For example, in December, they actually increased the points that you can earn for the various events.

But the biggest bonuses come from purchasing coins: You receive 100 VIP points for every $1 that you spend on the app. Not surprisingly, the biggest package that they offer costs $100, which is one point short of what you need to make it to the second level.

Once you achieve status, you have 90 days to make it to the next level. If you don’t, your VIP points drop to zero, but you remain at the same level. You then have another 90 days to earn enough points to maintain your status. Didn’t make it? Sorry, everything resets to zero.

Don’t make any purchases until you know that you will be using your points. The last thing you want to do is spend $100 for a perk that you’ll never use. And if you’re staying four nights, you’re getting them at $25 per night. Still not a bad deal.

Book Your Rooms! – Cashing Out Is Just As Easy

Wynn Slots App – Free Rooms Calendar

Getting your free night once you reach Level 3 is simple. The home screen has a tab that says “Earn a Stay at the Wynn!’ Just click on it and you’ll be taken to a calendar, similar to the one above.

Rooms are priced exactly as you’d expect:
Mid-week rooms are cheaper, running 2k — 3k per night.
The weekends will get more expensive, in the range of 4k — 6k gems per night.

NO RESORT FEES

Wynn appears to have dropped the resort charge on Wynn Slots nights. Be sure to confirm at check-in.

Booking Rooms – Here are a few other things to know

  • You can book up to four nights at a time with the Wynn Slots App. Once you have a stay booked, you won’t be able to see the reward calendar until you’ve completed it. The calendar is available through July, 2020. If you need more than one room, enter what one commenter calls “two-player mode,” i.e., book one through a spouse, friend or relative. Note: You can’t see the calendar unless you are VIP3. Fortunately, the Facebook Tips and Tricks group has a “calendar request” thread. Put in the dates that you want and one of the members with VIP2 will help you out.
  • If you need to cancel a room, there is a cancellation fee, which appears to be 1/4 of the gems that you redeemed. Another reason to wait until you are certain that you need the room to cash out.
  • At this point, it appears that only Wynn Las Vegas is eligible for redemptions.
  • Buffet redemptions cost 1,200 gems per buffet, and you can book them at VIP level one or higher. At VIP1, you can book two at a time. You get two additional buffets per level above VIP1.
  • Wynn appears to have dropped the resort charge on Wynn Slots nights, although you will be charged for incidentals, such as internet access.

Be Aware of a Few Things – Wynn Slots App

  • Part of the cost of “free game” is that they are constantly going to ask you to buy chips. The VIP levels add a little more pressure, but there’s no need to do so right away. Wait until your next bonus is ready if you need chips, and wait until you are ready to get a room before you buy VIP points.
  • Wait until one of the “events” to play. You’ll have the opportunity to earn extra game chips when you play.
  • You can win enough chips for a free room night in a few weeks, but it gets incrementally harder to earn gems as your balance gets higher.

*Major Hat Tip: I figured out a lot of this stuff just by playing the game, but I wouldn’t have made it as far as I did and as fast as I did without the Wynn Slots Facebook Group. They do a fantastic job of filling in the gaps.
