Yet another trailer casino showed up yesterday for an 8-hour stint on the site of the former Moulin Rouge. There was some advance media about the possibility of the mobile “casino” going up, but no confirmation that we saw and absolutely nothing online or in print aside from our own mention in “Vegas News.” Accordingly, there were no customers there when we visited, though we were told there had been players earlier.
Temporary casinos such as this are used to preserve a location’s gaming license. The license is renewed as long as there’s live gambling at the location for at least eight hours every two years.
Talk about a bare-bones presence. The trailer was tucked away behind some fencing with absolutely no signage. In fact, we drove right past it on the first try.

Inside there were 16 machines, all video poker with the same schedules for quarters only. Two employees of Century Gaming were overseeing the trailer—no cocktail waitresses here.

Some who feel that any casino opening is lucky and think there might be an opportunity in playing these pop-ups should think again. The five schedules offered on this occasion ranged in return from 93.11% to 95.71% for the best game, which was 8/5 Double Double Bonus. Maybe there’s some cache in saying you played video poker at the Moulin Rouge, but we weren’t willing to fade the 5% to claim it.

No chairs either?: This makes the airport machines look good.
