Looking to celebrate the Chinese New Year? Here are some highlights of events and celebrations going on around town.
Aria
In honor of the Year of the Ox, the main lobby to the Aria will be decorated with a 196-foot dragon hanging from the lobby’s ceiling and weaving its way around a money tree made up of 88 golden coins symbolizing wealth and fortune.
Bellagio
Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens will celebrate the Year of the Ox with a display featuring “A Season of Love” through March 6. This Lunar New Year display features four scenes layered within floral creations, designed to focus on love and evoke inspiration in the new year.
Forum Shops – Caesars Palace
The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace welcomes a 22-foot long, 6-foot wide, and 12-foot high dragon which is a symbol of power, strength, and good luck. This massive 950-pound steel-framed dragon is covered in 30,000 flickering red and amber LED lights.
The Shops at Crystal
The Shops at Crystal will be celebrating the Lunar New Year with a themed floral carpet featuring a gold Budda and red envelopes located on the first level next to the Treehouse, along with the Hanging Gardens that are filled with red lanterns on the second level.
MGM Grand
The main lobby at MGM Grand is transformed into a Lunar New Year featuring the iconic Leo the Lion surrounded by eight panda bears and eye-catching floral decor.
The Venetian and Palazzo
Throughout The Venetian and Palazzo, guests will find symbols that celebrate the Year of the Ox. The main feature is a photo-worthy art installation of a colossal female ox named Allesandra Heng. Allesandra stands 13 feet tall and is surrounded by IChing coins displaying symbols for prosperity, good health, happiness, and luck.
Wynn and Encore
Wynn and Encore welcome guests with sculptures symbolizing the Year of the Ox as you enter the property. Two eight-foot dragons will spread good luck to visitors outside. The Wynn’s main atrium will feature 45-foot long silk dragons hanging above, 7,000 begonias, mums, and calandiva flowers and 60 tangerine trees.
Fashion Show Las Vegas
The Fashion Show will have a cultural performance as dragons and lions parade through the center on Feb 13. Experience the history and beauty of Chinese New Year with the annual lantern garden dance performances every Thurs-Sun from Feb 12 through Feb 26.
Fremont Street Experience
Fremont Street is celebrating Chinese New Year with a special Viva Vision light and sound show on Feb. 12. The canopy will illuminate the pedestrian mall with all-new holiday-themed visuals.
Rampart Casino
Rampart Casino will celebrate the Year of the Ox with casino games and events, beginning with a traditional lion dance on Feb. 13. Additional festivities include a commemorative Year of the Ox statue giveaway on Feb. 16, lucky-red-envelope table drawings every Fri. and Sat. Feb. 12-26, and dining specials at Jade Asian Kitchen & Noodles.
Downtown Summerlin
Downtown Summerlin will be celebrating with lots of festive decorations. Highlights include oversized 2021 letters near Macy’s, a larger-than-life Chinese dragon in the dining arroyo, and an insta-worthy photo wall filled with festive decor located in the hallway near H&M.
