We’ve been roamin’ these streets for decades and have made a lot of culinary discoveries, but one thing we’ve never come across is a street cart selling New York City-style hot dogs topped with kraut and red-onion sauce. Sure, the dog itself has made its way to town, but Vegas has never had one of those carts that you find on every second street corner in NYC. It has one now.
Easily spotted by its blue-and-yellow umbrella, New York Street Dogs is positioned in front of the entrance to downtown’s Mob Museum. The classic hot dog with toppings is just $3, well under current NYC prices ($5-$6). There’s also hot sausage (it has a kick) for $7, nachos that they’ll top with the hot dog fixins for $5, and some combo deals if you want a drink. The dogs and red-onion sauce are the Real McCoy, both Sabrett products shipped in from Brooklyn. Order up and eat on the museum steps or across Ogden on the street-side picnic tables (be sure to grab some napkins).

An interesting aside: Operators Luis and Elizabeth Diaz support S.N.E.A.K.E.R.S., a charity that provides shoes to the needy; a portion of their proceeds is donated to that cause. Pretty cool. The stand is open Mon.-Sat. from 11 am to 7 pm.
