Local Corner—Chada Street
3839 Spring Mtn. Rd., 702-579-0207
In last year’s December issue, we featured Chada Thai. Exactly one year later it’s Chada Street. Concurring with the ELV review, we rate both among the best in town, but we prefer Street for its food selection and the more laid-back atmosphere. The best way to order is to pick three or four items to share. Our favorite is the koi nua that’s referenced in John Curtas’ comments. Spiced with Thai flavors and served with cabbage and cucumber in place of toast, it’s one of the best tartares you’ll ever taste, even if it’s one of the more expensive items on the menu at $17 (most items are $10 and below).
This is also a great place to experiment. We’ve eaten chicken wings, catfish, various soups and noodle dishes, hot pots, Thai sausage, and veggie dishes and have never come away dissatisfied. There’s a big bar area where you can grab a couple cold beers if the heat is getting to you, the only negative being there are no TVs (so don’t go when you’re sweating a bet).
Chada Street is located at Spring Mtn. and Valley View, less than a mile from our office. It used to be open for lunch, but now it’s dinner only. This also an excellent late-night go-to, serving till 3 am, except on Mondays when it’s closed.
