Local Corner— Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana

Ask a pizza aficionado where to get the best pie in Vegas, and even with so many choices it’s even money he’ll pick Settebello. This is specifically Neapolitan-style pizza, which, to be authentic, requires adhering to too many rules to list here. Settebello qualifies, though, and is the only pizza-maker in Nevada with VPN certification (Verace Pizza Napoletana), designating that it’s the real deal. In a nutshell, Neapolitan pizza is a thin-crust style cooked in 900-degree wood-burning ovens that create a somewhat soggy middle and charred edges.

The whole pizzas here are small, which is perfect if there are two of you, but you’ll need to order more than one for bigger groups. They also cost less at $10-$14 apiece. There are about 15 versions to choose from, or you can create your own. The menu also includes salads and a spattering of Italian specialties (arancini, gnocchi, prosciutto) that you can add to a single pizza to make a full meal. We had a Capricciosa pizza (crushed tomatoes, prosciutto cotto, artichokes, mushrooms, olives) and an excellent beet salad with goat cheese for $24 and there were leftovers for lunch.

There are two Settebellos in town, one on each side of the Strip—in the District at Green Valley Ranch on the east and in Village Square on the West. Both are very family friendly. There’s even a vague gambling tie-in—Settebello is named after the most important card in the Italian card game Scopa.

It’s in the Village Sq shopping center – NOT Town Sq – at Sahara & Ft Apache (Rampart ave)

      Yes, that’s been corrected.

Settebello’s also has a birthday club. Free pizza on your birthday if you sign up on line. This is a great way to try the pizza. On a slightly down note, their drink prices are quite a bit higher than Grimaldi’s, who also has excellent thin crust pizza.
