Continuing my theme of Las Vegas food institutions, this post pays homage to Hash House A Go Go.
I’m sure many of you are familiar with it, whether it’s the location on the Strip (the Linq), downtown (the Plaza), off-Strip (the Rio or West Sahara Avenue), local (Summerlin or Henderson), or or one of the several out-of-town locations. In the recent LVA poll on the best locals breakfasts, Hash House A Go Go placed second in the survey, with 13% of the vote; only the venerable Peppermill surpassed it.
Still, I also suspect that many of you have heard of it and wondered what all the fuss was about.
HHAGG’s theme is “Twisted Farm Food,” but that description doesn’t do the food justice. Their fried chicken and waffles is legendary and have been featured on “Man vs. Food.” I dare you to finish it in one sitting!
They’re perhaps most famous for their breakfast hash, which is a large cast-iron skillet filled with eggs, potatoes, and a main ingredient like chicken, meat loaf, or fresh vegetables. Order one for breakfast and you’ll be all set until dinner.
I can also recommend their French toast and pancakes, each of which is the size of an entire plate.

This being Vegas, they’ve also got plenty of options for some “hair of the dog,” whether you’re there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The signature drink is their BLT Mary — an extra-large, extra-spicy, and extra-strong (they’re not stingy with the vodka!) Bloody Mary, served with a tomato, a piece of lettuce, and huge bacon slice served right in the glass.
Check it out and I’m sure you’ll be hooked!

Never miss another post
We really enjoy Hash House a Go Go. It’s a staple for us when we go to Fremont Street. My wife and I actually shared the Chicken and Waffles because we saw the Man vs. Food episode and knew we wouldn’t be able to eat it individually. Other times we will order items and take the leftovers back to the hotel room for another meal. The chicken pot pie is ginormous!
HH in the Linq is always the first stop for our March Madness trip. We usually get in to McCarran at about 7 AM, dump our bags at the Bell desk and get our Bloody Mary with breakfast.
I hit Hash House on Sahara Ave every time I visit Las Vegas, for breakfast on the way to play poker at Red Rock… They have an autographed photo displayed of one of my idol’s, Fred Couples. Great food, ridiculously large portions, and outstanding service…
Will you have take out on Christmas day
One of our favorite places for breakfast when we visit Vegas. No place even close in South Carolina.
Guess I’m in the other side here but I think this place is subpar at best. Places like peppermill and omelet house are, imho, far superior but to each his own I suppose
I agree. Tried HH a few times. Each time I felt the food was overpriced and gimmicky. Just because you put the top of a pineapple on the plate as a garnish doesn’t make the food quality better.
But, as Goose says, to each his/her own.
So overrated. What good are huge portions if they don’t taste great?
