Vegas – best bet for breakfast

June 30, 2017 8 Comments Written by Richard Munchkin

Mary’s Hash House is my favorite breakfast place.  I don’t get there often because I live on the other side of town.  It used to be called just “Hash House,” and whenever I arranged to meet someone there I would have to tell them, “Not Hash House A Go Go.”

Mary's Hash House

Mary must have realized the problem, so she added her name to the joint. Mary’s is on Decatur just north of Sahara.  There is a Hash House A Go Go right over on Sahara, and I’m sure she lost a lot of business to people going to the wrong place.

Here is what I like about Mary’s.  She makes all her own hash, nothing out of a can.  She serves two kinds of coffee, regular and bold, they make fresh cinnamon buns every day, they make their own hot sauces, and they make fresh jelly every day.

But the main thing I like is this is a privately owned place, not some corporate monstrosity.  It’s a place where the owner says, this is my joint. I’ll run it how I want, and if you don’t like it go to IHOP. You’ll never see a sign like this in Denny’s.

Are there any places left that have a cheap breakfast special like BILLS did back in the day?

Yes, try the Klondike. It’s out on the east side of town on sunset near Boulder Hwy. Eggs with bacon or sausage is still $1.49. They have some other specials as well.

LOL, they charge you $12 to park your car. Don’t think they will offer much of a deal on breakfast. But in seriousness I don’t know of any breakfast deals on the strip but if you were going to look I would try the small independent places like Casino Royale or Hooters. You can get a reasonably priced breakfast at South Point, Palms, or Gold Coast.

Yes, Blondie’s in the Miracle Mile Shops has a 3.99 special, LAs Salsa also has great specials and so does Ocean’s. All of these are in the Miracle Mile Shops.

I like the name of the restaurant. It sounds like it would be a good place to go and eat after a wake and bake. I want to talk and party like it’s 1999!
