Quote of the Day
“Anybody that gets in politics has to be willing to accept winning and losing with some level of grace or maturity. I’ve done both. Losing is brutal, it’s personal, it hurts, but if you’re not willing to accept that, you should not be in political leadership. This country needs it desperately and, unfortunately, we haven’t seen it demonstrated as much as we should.”—outgoing Rep. Paul Mitchell (I).
This applies to playing poker, and gambling as well… Sometimes I get really frustrated and I have to try to look at the big picture. The losing is easier to take when I am talking to friends or just people at the table, the new plexiglass barriers are great for virus protection, but they suck for social interaction. Someday I will get good enough at playing cards to adapt to my golf default: I never beat myself up for golf, its just too freaking hard of a game, the closest I come is missing a short putt for the money, that stings hard…
I lost my job and career after the Bush v. Gore decision, replaced by a Texas friend of the incoming President. After a week or two I stopped whining and was doing something unrelated to politics within a few months. Nothing excuses these jerks who literally want to burn the White House and everything good about the country on the way out.
Could not have said it any better.
