Way back in 1988, Bill Irwin, owner of the Gun Store in Las Vegas, had the idea to rent automatic weapons to tourists -- and an industry was born. (The idea was so successful that Gun Store moved into a much larger facility.)
We have listings for three shooting experiences: Battlefield Vegas, Machine Guns Vegas, and the Range 702. But there are plenty more; these are the ones that cater to tourists.
Some, like the Gun Store, cater to Commonwealth country visitors, while others, like the Strip Gun Club, get more travelers from Asia and the Pacific Rim. The Range 702 is popular with Californians; for some reason, east coast Americans like Battlefield Vegas.
Serious shooters, of course, find the places where they can bring their own guns and ammo; the Clark County Shooting Complex, American Shooters, and Discount Firearms and Ammo, for example, charge a minimal fee ($10 or so) for lane rentals. You can also rent guns and buy ammo there.
Others, like Battlefield Vegas, offer packages for rentals and ammo. Popular is BV's "Defending Stalingrad" deal: 15 rounds through a Tokarev handgun, 10 rounds through a Mosin M19/30 sniper rifle, and 50 rounds withi a PPSH-41 Soviet submachine gun, all for $139.99.
At the Range 702, the "Adrenaline Rush" package is for two shooters: four targets, 180 rounds and six guns, including an M4 and an AK-47, for $589.95.
And if you'd like to get married before or after your shoot at the private VIP range, the Gun Store has an attached wedding chapel ($500 for the package).
