How Much Do Las Vegas Taxicabs Charge?

Updated August 7, 2023

What you're charged for a cab ride in Las Vegas is determined by the meter, exclusively.

The "flag drop," just for stepping into a cab, is $5.25, up from $3.50 only a few years ago, though if you're leaving from Reid International, you'll also pay an airport surcharge of $2.40.

After that, it's 35 cents per additional 1/9th of a mile ($8.40 for the first mile, then $3.15 per additional mile). The meter "knows" if the cab is moving at street speed; if the speed drops to less than around 12 miles per hour, it adds $.54 per minute; this comes to $32.40 waiting time. If, for example, you want the driver to stop at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, he will, but you'll be charged $11 or for him to sit there for the 20 minutes you might have to wait in line to take your turn at the sign.

A 3% excise tax is also added to the final fare, but the 20-cent-per-mile fuel surcharge is included in the fare.

Also from Reid, there are three zones to which the fares are fixed: south Strip $21, center Strip $25, north Strip $29.
