The Giants continue to amaze

The Giants continue to amaze They win a game 1-0 despite their starting pitcher (Sanchez) walking seven in five innings. You know how they got their run? Aubrey Huff gets hit by a pitch. He steals second on a botched hit-and-run because the throw was in the dirt at second. Then with a ground ball to Tejada at short (the ball is hit in FRONT of him), he goes for third. Tejada was caught off guard and threw the ball offline, and Huff slid under the tag. With the corners in, one out and pinchrunner Schierholtz (sp) at 1st, Uribe, I believe, hits a grounder to short. The 3B cuts it off (because he was in) and goes for the DP. Schierholtz takes out Rex Hudler, er, I mean David Eckstein, who still manages to get the throw off, but the runner barely beats it. The run scores from third. Bochy panics in the 8th and puts Brian Wilson in with one out in the 8th. (When needing a five-outs-or-more save this season, Wilson is 9-for-10. That he has had 10 of these opps tells you all you need to know about how Bochy mismanages his bullpen. It also forces him to use Affeldt as a closer from time to time, which actually has worked out OK, so far.) In the ninth, the Giants load the bases for Brian Wilson, who clearly has to bat. The TV speculated he was told not to swing with one out, lest he hit into a double play (he did, on a 1-2-3 in which Uribe interfered with the catcher -- a good call by the ump), and I suppose it is possible, but I think Bochy is scared to tell Wilson no. He lets him pitch five-out saves (what closer -- and Wilson is a bit of space cadet, I mean closers are the wide receivers of baseball in terms of personality -- doesn't want the ball?) and you think he will have the stones to tell someone who never gets to hit to stand there? A team CANNOT win this way with regularity. I suggest you continue to fade the Giants. Their "lucky" streak is being factored into the line. The only reason they are in first is because San Diego has been amazingly unlucky. Take San Diego both today and tomorrow!
I must have been watching a different game! My read, despite the Giants' inability to put runs up, is that they are the stronger team with more depth. Also, the Pod's seem lethargic and drained from their recent defeats. It appears to me that the Jints also have the Padres' number once again. The psychological pendulum has shifted. The only concern the Giants should have are the Rockies doing their late season thing! JMHO RUDY
We definitely agree that they cannot score. They had seven hits yesterday, although four or five were off the bullpen. Jose Guillen continues to be a rally-killer. We can also hopefully agree that we will learn a lot about Bud Black as a manager during the next three weeks. I would not be surprised if Colorado takes this divsion.
