NCAA Baseball: TCU-UCLA

NCAA Baseball: TCU-UCLA The TCU Horned Frogs pulled off the improbable upset of the Texas Longhorns in the Super Regional by winning a decisive third game at Disch-Falk Field in Austin. After easily dispatching Florida State in its CWS opener, TCU is now at solid plus money against UCLA. The Bruins will send their top starter, Gerit Cole, to the hill, while the Frogs counter with Kyle Winkler (12-1) who silenced the Longhorns in his last start in Game Three nine days ago. Certainly no disrespect to the Pac 10 Bruins, but really expected TCU to be a short favorite here and would not be surprised to see it raise the gold ball when it's all said and done. We'll take the live frog, I mean dog, at plus 1.30. Good luck, Paul
Homer call for sure. U May win but a WAY better starter for the Bruins Plus a WAY better bullpen
Certainly a losing call, but not a "homer" one. Have been riding TCU through the Tournament and really thought it was good value at that type of plus money. Obviously, I was wrong. Congrats, however, on having the right side and look forward to your insight and winning selections in the future. Good luck, Paul

Good luck, Paul[/QUOTE] We play baseball all year round in our beautiful southern California weather! ;) TCU keeps winning as they have rematch set up against the mighty Bruins. Who do you like in the rematch Paul?

Flipper, my friend, it will certainly depend on the pitching matchup. The Horned Frogs are thin after their top three pitchers, but we'll see. Cole certainly shut down TCU in the first meeting. Good luck, Paul
Obviously the pitching matchup favors TCU, -134 at Pinny as I type this. Any thoughts from the great state of Texas?
TCU's Purke definitely difficult to go against... but UCLA's Rasmussen no slouch either. That said, I have made a play on the Frogs at minus 1.30. Purke (15-0, 3.03 ERA) was the 14th pick in last year's MLB Free Agent Draft and has pitched well in some big spots. Any opinions on the game _ preferably prior to the first pitch _ are welcome and appreciated. Good luck, Paul
This one could come down to the bullpens and in my opinion UCLA has the stronger/deeper pen. Rasmussen was a second round pick this year and has more experience than Purke. Having said that, Purke has outstanding stuff. Alot of pressure on TCU as they have to beat UCLA twice. UCLA has held opp to a .217 bavg for the season and .185 in the series (26k's to 6bb's). Team ERA for the year of 2.97 (second in the nation behind Texas). 665 k's/195 bb's for the year. One word of caution: 25-of the 35 players on the UCLA roster are freshman or sophs. Not that big of a deal at this time of the year. UCLA is the only team left out of the top 8 seeds. The only reason TCU is favored is because of Purke being 15-0. Perception. Ill take the better overall staff with the generous plus money. Should be fun to watch. And no vuvuzelas to contend with!!!!!!!!!
No question UCLA has the deeper staff Good points. Good luck, Paul
Good call Paul. Purke was just too much for the left handed Bruins.
