Pete Rose and Baseball info Charlie Hustle: While in Vegas this past weekend I saw Pete Rose sitting in a sports shop in Caesars mall. I turned to Molly and spouted off: "Three time world champ, all time hits leader, former MVP, an allstar at 5 positions and he's not in the hall of fame because he bet on baseball". My wife answered: "I guess that means you won't be either".
Umpire "Homers"?: Anyone notice that Todd Tichenor was behind the plate last Saturday in St Louis? The home team is a perfect 12-0 when he is behind the dish this year.
Cleveland flip flops: If you blindly bet the Indians under the total so far this year you would have won 14 of the 20 games they played in April.
But, in May betting the same way you would have lost your shirt as they went over the total 19 of 26 games. So far in June they are 3-3 to the total.
Bad Beat: I had under 8.5 in the Bosox/Orioles game last Saturday. I left the Sportsbook at Caesars confident I'd come back in a few hours to cash the ticket. They had just finished the 8th inning and Boston was up 2-0.
To my shock I came back 2 hours later and without checking the scores handed the writer my winner. He ran it through the machine and gave it back to me. LOSER. Boston scored 6 in the top and Baltimore 2 in the bottom half of the 9th giving me an 8-2 loser. I was numb for the next 15 minutes.
Todays "guess": I took the Mariners with Lee as a small favorite tonight.
Yes, I know, Lee does not pitch well in Arlington. His ERA there is 9.19.
But, call it an epiphany or whatever. A little bird in my pea brain told me he'd pitch better tonight. Besides, I expect Seattle to get a few runs off Scott Feldman who's allowed at least 4 runs in every start going back to May 4th ( 6 starts). I smell a 5-2 game. Warning: I'm not at the top of my game. Fade me if you wish.
Good luck to all,
Tim
