Posey Situation

Posey Situation Just my own thoughts on this but does anyone else here feel that all of Posey, his agent and Sabean's comments regarding the collion at home plate last week are just totally out of line and non-productive? From replays of the collion and the discussion I have heard of former players on ESPN there is no doubt that the hit by Scott Cousins was clean and within the rules of baseball. Whether this hit should be allowed in the game is a completely separate issue. Does anyone think the collision was due to a vicious outside the rules hit by Cousins? Posey made comments about Cousins "choosing to come at him instead of going for the open part of the plate". Posey's agent who I don't recall the name of said the rules should be changed to prevent this type of hit again. Some debate on the issue is probably worth it. I'll say this comment is somewhat productive. Sabean's comments about Cousins they just seem completely out of line and are a personal attack on this kid. Why are the Giants so upset? They're the WS champs but you know what? Smart people do stupid things and playing Posey as a catcher was a risk the Giants and Posey took--and honestly it has always sounded stupid. That is just my opinion. A prospect like Posey as a hitter does not belong at catcher no matter how much he wants to be a catcher and even how good he may be at it. Nobody did their job except for some first base starts he gets. When your catcher bats 4th in the lineup, that should be an alert. Obviously it is a tremendous comparative advantage vs. other teams offensively but comes with this exact risk---and many others. Even with no injuries the wear and tear of the position reduces foot speed and has a pressure to it to be involved in the defensive part of the game at all times risking more throwing injuries, foul ball injuries, etc. Unless there is something else I don't know the Giants just seem out of line. All of the Giants should be doing is aknowledging it was a clean hit and a tough break for Posey but he's looking forward to being back next year.
Agree completely. Death threats for trying to play the game the way it's supposed to be played? Especially for a player who is trying to stay out of AAA.
Cowherd pointed out on his show today that the hypocritical Giants GM was also the GM for JT Snow when he KILLED Pudge on a similar play.
It looked to me like as he launched himself he was going waist to chest high with the hit, then Posey drops, already blocking home plate, to literally sit on home plate like a fking Buddah. My whole thing is: please explain the "other options" this kid had, and how he "chose" to deliver a hit vs. ....vs. what I don't know other than walk around the backside of Posey and try to stick his hand up his ass to tag home. I'm pretty sure he didn't have time to do all of that. He's a big kid. He delivered the hit with his full force...I just don't see where he did anything wrong. Posey saw the size of him when he's standing on third (likely the first time as he is a bench player), he definitely could have gave him at least enough room to make a hook slide, then we'd have a debate. Even at that, extra innings, after you've blown a lead, you have to try and knock that ball loose if you're Cousins. The throw beat him there.
