Prof Meyer's MLB PLAY 9/12 Chicago (NL) +170 over MILWAUKEE – The Cubs are not a good team, but there is no way the Brewers should be this heavy a favorite in this spot. Milwaukee is in a funk and they simply have trouble getting untracked. The Brewers are 1-9 when they are off two losses in which they never led, with their lone victory in extra innings over the Pirates. Gallardo was in this spot three times and Milwaukee lost; 9-2, 6-3 and 8-7.
In addition, Milwaukee is 0-5 at home after a loss in which they allowed 6 or fewer hits, 0-6 (-4.5 rpg) as a home favorite of more than 120 when seeking immediate revenge for a one-run loss and a brutal 0-5 THIS season in the last game of a series when they are off two losses in which they never led, losing by an average of 5.6 runs per game.
Gallardo has NEVER won in this particular spot. Since he joined the Brewers, Milwaukee is 0-6 with Gallardo when trying to prevent a sweep of a three-game series. And they were a favorite of at least 160 in four of the six. Ouch.
Gallardo was bombed for six and eight runs in two straight starts before pitching very well in his last outing. He went seven innings and allowed only two runs vs the Cardinals at home. However, the bullpen allowed six runs in the eighth and they lost 8-6. What kind of attitude will Yovani bring out to the mound today? Here’s a hint; Milwaukee is 0-9 with Gallardo when he went at least five innings and they lost as a home favorite in his last start, losing by an average of 3.6 rpg. The SDQL text is:
starter=Yovani Gallardo and s:LHF and s:SIP>=5 and date>20090701
By running the query you can see that the Brewers opponents' have scored an average of 7.1 runs per game over the nine games.
The Cubs were annihilated by Milwaukee 18-1 the last time they faced Gallardo. But, they have been an excellent investment in this spot. Chicago is a very profitable 16-11 as a road dog of more than 140 when they lost the last time they faced their opponent’s starting pitcher.
Finally, Chicago is a very nice 9-3 as a road dog vs a divisional foe that is ahead of them in the divisional standings. Grab this ridiculous price.

Good luck to all. Comments welcome.
