Once again we will look beyond the stats, although Paulino has been dreadful (0-2, 18.47 ERA, 3.32 WHIP, .529 BAA) against the Jints. Both of these pitchers have gotten off to weak starts but are showing signs of improvement. But we have more faith in Wellemeyer to further turn things around than we do in Paulino in this spot. We also believe the Giants are a far superior team despite getting swept by the Padres, a team playing excellent ball, while the Astros are strutting their stuff after sweeping the Cards. We believe the sweep in St Louis tells us more about the weaknesses of the Cards than the strength of the Astros. Let’s face it, the Giants are a good team and recognize they need a win. The Giants play well at home (10-5 before Padres came to town) and will play this one tight with real focus. (This is the one spot this weekend where the Giants will be playable at decent odds)
