Rudy NYC Sports Play of the Day -6/10/2010 (69-41 +60.24 units) 1-0 +3.0 units (Yesterday dark - Tuesday WINNER on Matt Cain) 69-41 +60.24 units (2010 MLB Season) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday's Plays: 915 Thursday, 6/10/2010 Detroit Tigers/Chicago White Sox Over 8.5 3 units 2:05pm EST @ Chicago White Sox The next three weeks will be critical for these two American League Central teams as they try to stay close to the Twins. Otherwise, there will be wholesale changes in late July in both clubhouses. The White Sox got their kick in the butt before yesterday’s game and it seemed to have worked. The Tigers, who are not in the same dire position, once again send Max Scherzer (Last 5: 1-4, 9.36 ERA, 1.96 WHIP) to the mound. On the other side of the field the White Sox send John Danks (Last 5: 1-4, 5.90 ERA, 1.55 ERA) to the hill. Danks, who started the season sharp, seems to have lost his rhythm and the Tigers should get a few off him as they are hitting southpaws (.338 over last 10). Both bullpens are stretched and giving up runs. Combined these two pitchers are OVER 5-0-1 over the last 3 and 7-2-1 over the last 5. Weather will be clear in Chicago and we see this number very attainable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 919 Thursday, 6/10/2010 Boston Red Sox/Cleveland Indians Under 9.0 2 units 7:05pm EST @ Cleveland Indians In Cleveland we see a marquee matchup between two hot pitchers. Jon Lester, 4-0, 1.53 ERA and 0.99 over his last 5 and Mitch Talbot, 3-2, 3.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP over his last 5 should continue to keep the score low in their current form. As mentioned recently, the Red Sox are having difficulty finding runs, once again. Bullpens are not in the best shape but we do not see that being a factor in tonight’s game. Papelbon is due back today from bereavement leave. We have Andy Fletcher, an UNDER ump, behind the dish. GL, RUDY
I believe Scherzer's last 5 starts sandwich a minor league stint. It is still a solid pick for all the other reasons stated.
