RudyNYCSports MLB plays 4/18 to 4/24 Season Record: 12-8 +5.42 units ----------------------------------------- Monday Early Play: Blue Jays/Red Sox OVER 5 -120 (5 innings) 1.5 units We have two starting pitchers who give us reason to suggest that this will be a slug-fest. We need not discuss the hitting prowess of either of these squads as we know both have the potent lineups with that potential to put up runs. Back to the pitchers. First Ricky Romero for Toronto. RR's history against the Sawx reads 2-4, 7.42 ERA, 2.06 WHIP, and .346 BAA. Yes, we are aware of his impressive 2011 start but look at the Red Sox starting lineup's BA against RR: Drew RF - .450 (20 AB) Pedroia 2B - .545 (11 AB) Gonzalez 1B - .333 (3 AB) Youkilis, 3B - .400 (10 AB) Ortiz DH - .409 (22 AB) Lowrie SS - .400 (5 AB) Crawford LF - 1.000 (1 AB) Varitek C - .000 (1 AB) Ellsbury CF - .417 (12 AB) Should we waste ink on discussing Matsuzaka? No, we need to send it on OVER, 5 innings as game time approaches (confident full game will click too). GL Rudy
Wind out to right field at 19 MPH Good luck, Paul
Counting my blessings with the push on a 5 inning play that very well could have (and should have) sailed over. Hope you played the game total over, too, as we were very lucky there to clear the 9.5. Monday Evening Play: Indians -115 (5 inning play) (5Dimes) 1.5 units We seldom go against the Royals at home but we have to fade Kyle Davies as much as possible until he goes the way of one of our all time fades, Sidney Ponson. Kyle Davis is not a good pitcher. He is a lifetime 43-57 pitcher with a career 5.56 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and .286 BAA. This year his numbers already look worse: 1-1, 9.00 ERA, 2.21 WHIP, and .383 BAA. We know both teams are playing way above their expectations but the offenses have comparable numbers so we can side with the starting pitcher, Carlos Carrasco, who stats are not quite as bad as Davies (1-1, 5.03, 1.32, .264). Note that the Indians are hitting .313 against southpaws. Playing the 5 innings because of KC's tendency to score runs late at home and because of their strong relief. GL Rudy
Tuesday, April 19: Yesterday: 1-0-1, +1.5 units Season: 13-8 +6.92 units ----------------------------------- Today's Play: Astros/Mets OVER 7.5 +105 (5dimes) 2.0 units Gloomy day in NYC with showers and temperatures in the mid 40's by game time. Starting to get used to these conditions and we like the possibility of a rain delay or two so we can see the bullpens from two teams at the bottom of the barrel in all statistical categories for relievers. But let's focus on the starters. The Houston starter, one of our favorites to go against in Wandy Rodriguez, is currently 0-2, 7.31 ERA, 1.81, WHIP and .366 BAA. The Mets start Jonathan Niese with his record of 0-2, 4.57 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 2.48 BAA. Neise's numbers are not terrible but the Astros are hitting .304 against southpaws. We would be remiss in not mentioning the Mets against lefties hitting a mere .213. However, in the three games in which the Mets have faced lefty starters, the Mets are 2-0-1 to the OVER. These two teams are a combined 23-8-1 to the OVER and these pitchers 5-1 to the OVER and the line is set at 7.5??? Both teams are mid-pack in offensive categories. This line is set too low and this OVER should be easy - we may have to wait until the 7th inning or so because of the style of play for these two but we'll get there. (Yes, we are aware the last nine games between these two have gone UNDER but we are tossing that out as both are trending OVER in 2011) GL Rudy

Wednesday, April 20 Yesterday: 0-1, -2.0 units (loss on OVER Hst@NYM)* Season: 13-9, +4.92 units *Sorry for anyone or tailed, more sorry if you tailed and watched. Only thing I want to say is that I look forward to the day MLB has full replay review. ------------------------------------------------- Tonight: D'backs/Reds OVER 9 -105 (5Dimes) 1.5 units GL Rudy
Thursday, April 21 Yesterday: 0-1, -1.58 units Season: 13-10, +3.34 units ------------------------------ Thursday's Play: Indians -109 1.5 units Our numbers favor Tomlin over O’Sullivan and the Tribe’s power surge seems to never stop. GL, Rudy
Friday, April 22 Yesterday 0-1, -1.5 units (tough loss in the 9th on Indians) Season: 13-11, +1.84 units ------------------------------------------------------------ Friday's Play: NYY -1.5 -108 1.5 units Looks like they will get this game in with perhaps a rain delay or two late. By then Bergesen will have done enough damage and CC will have had his way with a team, the O’s, who have lost 9 of the last 10games in which they opposed Sabathia as a starter. (Lineups out and all Yankee regulars scheduled to start) GL, Rudy (Win or lose, no plays this weekend - see 'ya all next week)
