Trivia #2

Trivia #2 This somewhat obscure player had two unique accomplishments. This left handed first baseman was the first player to hit a home run in 8 consecutive games. He also was the second left hander to play the postion of catcher in a major league game. Since I haven't followed baseball for many years, he may be the last left handed player to play catcher in MLB game. Who is he?
Don Mattingly
Big Pappa: Mattingly did hit home runs in 8 consecutive games. However, he wasn't the first player to accomplish this feat. I also doubt that Mattingly ever played an inning as a catcher.
Nate Colbert!

Colbert was right handed. His claim to fame was that he hit 5 homers in a doubleheader (one of 2 players to accomplish that feat). He drove in 13 runs in that doubleheader ( a MLB record that still stands).
Damn! I didn't win the prize! I knew he was righthanded hitter, not sure about which way he threw.
Dale Long...Had his 1959 Topps Card as part of a complete set
Sporstmemo is correct. Dale Long played with the Pirates and Cubs. Well done! charliej
