Why is the Baseball Media and Handicappers so Square about false playoff hopes?

Why is the Baseball Media and Handicappers so Square about false playoff hopes? Teams like the Boston Red Sox. In truth, they are almost drawing dead right now. Everyone remembers the miracle 10 game rally 20 years ago, and the teams that made up 6.5 games in 10 days. The truth is that there is a reason you are 6 games out. You aren't as good, and you are out of time. Barring a small miracle, it's all over.
agreed Wild card in the American League is set. It would take a small miracle for them to catch the Rays. They still have 6 games with the Rays and that's the ray (pardon the pun)of hope they cling to. But, you keep trying until the 162 game schedule is complete. I applaud them for that.
Injuries are killing them but still getting good pitching and when they get some people back they could make a run IMO.
I agree with BigPappa. Injuries have taken a toll on the Sox, they're not dead yet.

Dead. Especially after that barf job yesterday.
There was a few times that I thought the Twins had no shot but some how they found away to get into the playoffs when things did not look good. It's never over until it's over.
