World Series thoughts; Plays: Series: Giants +120 in Five Games Game 1: Giants +115 The short of it: PITCHING! That is what the Rangers have not faced in either of the two series recently won. The Jays and Yankees, two teams I have previously labeled "pretenders", did not show up with decent pitching. That sure made the Rangers look fabulous. ---------------------------------------------- Question: which rotation would you prefer? Lee, Wilson, Lewis, and Hunter, or Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez and Bumgarner. ...and let's not forget that the Giants have a far superior relief staff. ---------------------------------------------- Only other point that needs to made: this series starts in SF and as said before, the Giants will control the tempo of Games 1 & 2 and force two low scoring games (small lean to UNDER 6 tonight). The Giants mission is to get one or two vs. Cliff Lee and position themselves to win the game in the late innings. Most of the Rangers lineup has never faced Timmy and will need time to figure out his vast array of sliders and change-ups. He should keep the Rangers in check until those late innings. SF 4 Texas 2 GL, RUDY
IMO The Rangers starting staff stands up to the Giants. Lincecum is great but I think the consensus right now is Lee is the best. Cain and Wilson I'm guessing most people give the nod to Cain but Wilson has had a very good year. It will be interesting how good he is in this series. Cain is a top pitcher but as a hardened veteran of many baseball runline and moneyline bets I can tell you that Cain is the best pitcher I've ever bet who cashes the fewest tickets. He's on a roll now where W's are going beside his name. Sanchez and Bumgarner vs. Lewis and Hunter. Sanchez just walks too many guys. Tremendous stuff. You hear it on TV and see but out of several games by 5th inning. You have to figure he'll have his hands full with Texas. Certainly capable of good things but Texas has the O to make him pay for mistakes. Lewis has been solid all year. Hunter? Obviously not a good game against the Yankees and I like Bumgarner. Probably an edge to Bumgarner but not huge and not sure what to expect when they do pitch. The Giants bats need to step up and they definitely can. You have to like their team chemistry and ability to dig out games. But every strength they have Texas is right there. I mean the Giants bullpen is tremendous but it has also been one of Texas great strengths this year. Once again not sure I agree the Giants have a better bullpen than Texas. I will give them the edge for experience but the Rangers got guys who have worked out. And how about Vlady? Will he be able to defend Triples alley to keep his bat in the lineup? This is a Texas issue. I have no bet on series but I do like Texas. No doubt though I will have my share of Giants runline bets starting with tonight.
Nice call Rudy! I thought Texas would win game one.... with the giants winning the series.
WS Game #1 recap Thanks, MrTop and thanks Skeeter for a great read. As for yesterday's game: TEMPO + PITCHING = WINNER (and a little hitting certainly helped!) Back later with reasons why I am once again playing the Giants! RUDY

Appreciate the advice on last night's game. I was all set to lay some on the Rangers until you pointed out acouple of succint facts. Good job.
WS Game #2 Thanks, rj! Tonight: I expect more of the same. Giants' field, bat, ball, fans and....................TEMPO! CJ Wilson, who had a terrific season, basically has 14 different types of fastballs and plays with his off-speed stuff on occasion because he has to mix it up. He has not pitched that well in the post-season and Giants will have little difficulty with his fastballs. Can you say URIBE? Matt Cain, as far as I am concerned, is 1A on the Giants' pitching staff. He seldom throws a clunker and like Lincecum has endorsed "Righetti Ball". The Play: Giants -113 Strong Lean to: Over 7 GL, RUDY
