College Football picks thread 2011

Sqaure sharp Play of the week...IMONIT 341) LSU -5.5 vs little mounties of WVa, 0.75% play. Defense wins football games. Oregon and MISS St could not get anywhere vs LSU, no reason to think WVa can. They will be forced to become 1 dimensional in the passing game.
309) Toledo/Syracuse OVER 54. 0.75% play Neither team should be able to run ball. 2 weak secondaries with some injury concerns. Clock should be stopped all day. https://blog.syracuse.com/orangefootball/2011/09/status_for_toledo_game_unclear.html https://blog.syracuse.com/orangefootball/2011/09/defensive_coordinator_scott_sh.html The Orange defense finished No. 7 in the nation last season because it was able to shut down the run while also preventing the deep strike. The ability to do each is equally important in Scott Shafer’s scheme. So far this season SU has again been very good at stopping the run – USC had 26 yards rushing on 10 carries in the first half; its 175-yard total was inflated by the 78 yards it gained on its final possession as it ran out the clock – but has been burned badly by the deep ball. Third-quarter Barkley scoring strikes of 44 and 43 yards ended the drama Saturday. “We had to approach it that way,” Trojan coach Lane Kiffin said. “We knew Syracuse would play tough against the run, so we went with the vertical passing game tonight.” Bank on future foes doing the same thing. Until the Orange secondary proves it can stop the deep pass having a stingy run defense will be a moot point.
329) Georgia -9.5 over Ole Miss, 1% play Rebels look lost as their anemic offense has put up 208 vs a bad BYU team, 315 vs the powerhouse Salukis (outyarded by 100+ in that game), and 234 vs SEC mega team Vandy. Richt is on the hot seat and expect them to flex their muscle as they climb back into the SEC race. Good Luck
331) BG/Miami Oh OVER 50, 1.5% play....and 332) Miami Oh -4 over BG. 1.25% play BG had 2 fumbles vs Idaho, 3 turnovers vs Morgan State, and 6 turnovers vs The speedy :) Wyoming Cowboys. Now the very young Falcons go on the road to face a veteran tough minded Redhawk team. The verdict is still out on whether BG is good, bad, or indifferent. But the Falcons certainly gave one away Saturday with six turnovers, a couple dreadful penalties, and two blocked kicks, the last a game-tying PAT attempt with 2.1 seconds left that gave Wyoming a 28-27 victory and sent a crowd of nearly 15,000 home from the Doyt somewhat stunned. We do have 2 teams that will sling the ball and expect a high scoring game.

add 339) Cal +1 over U Dub. 1% play UW gashed on ground, which opens up Tedford's aerial game.
Question (seriously): Will Houston Nutt interview for the soon-to-be-vacant UAB job between now and the start of the 2012 season? Something to think about.... Paul

Rain could be coming tonight. https://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/USOH0188?begHour=18&begDay=265 https://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110920/SPT0101/109210349 Think this 60.5 total will come down before kickoff.
318) Rutgers UNDER 51, 1% play
